Mumberson New Pres. of Victoria Square Lions Club Councillor Lawson Mumberson added to his already impressive record of public service for the township when on Tuesday. April 19th at the Victoria Square Com- munity hall, he was elected Presi- dent of the Victoria Square and District Lions Club for 1960-61. The entire slate of the Nomina- ting Committee which was head- ed by President Carl Walker, was adopted unanimously by the club, indicating a high degree of accord among the members. However the children are asked to meet at 11 am. in the Sunday School Room to march up into the church with their teachers. C.G.I.’l‘. and Tyros from the Victoria Square charge attended the Presbyterial Youth Rally in Unionville last week. They were accompanied by their leaders, Mrs. Story, Mrs. P. Bennett, Art Story and Mr. and Mrs. L. Mumberson. The local C.G.I.T. members were the usher- ettes. Family Day Service Attention! All girls and boys, eight years of age and up are asked to meet in the church on Sunday morning, May 8, at 10.30 am. for the purpose of forming a Junior Choir. It will be under the leadership of Mrs. Allan On and Mrs. Jim Barker. Youth Rally on. Junior Choir The community hall was packed for the second film show sponsor- ed by the Lions. During the in- termission Lion President Carl Walker gave an interesting talk on Lionism. A number of Victoria Square and District Lions attended the supper meeting of the Maple Lions Club. Thursday evening. The April meeting of the Coup- les Club was held recently at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jock Rum- ney. Mr. Frank Donnelly showed films on England, Norway and New Zealand. Lions NEWMARKET â€" A dog fight on Newmarket's main street sent two local children to hospital af- ter a stray dog had attacked their pet dog on a leash. The next meeting wil May 17. Authorization for the purchase of a 16mm movie projector for the Unit. was received from Headquarters. Prices from var- ious firms will be obtained and reported on at the next meeting. It was moved by Mrs. McAr- thur, seconded by Mrs. McDou- gali that the Unit continue to hold meetings on the 3rd. Tues- day of each month. It was suggested that representa- tives of local service groups, the V.O.N. and the Health Unit be invited to attend Director’s meet- ings.
