The Local Planning Board in- augurated in 1952 is composed of five members who have served without remuneration. This year Council decided that the mem- bers should be paid and made provision for pay at the rate of $12.00 per meeting. The letter received this week from the Deputy-minister of that there is no authority in the Planning Act or elsewhere for Municipal Affairs pointed out r‘muneration to members of lannlng Boards. Acting Mayor Tinker and all members of council expressed regret on receiving the informa- tion and expressed strong senti- ments that Planning Board mem- bers in a municipality such as Richmond Hill devote a great deal of time to the work and should be paid. Councillor Whillans, also a member of the Planning Board said it is his understanding that Boards in'some other municipali- ties are being paid. Council members were unani- mouse in the view that Planning Board members should have some remuneration and on mo- tion of Councillor‘s Tom Broad- hurst and Mrs. Margaret South- well the solicitor will be consult- ed to see if some legal means can be found to make the payment. ‘ Planning Board members are: Ross Scrimger, Chairman, Nor- man A.
