When there are public decis- ions to be made on certain is- sues ,such as Richmond Hill’s: Sunday movies: the Ward system; the local bus franchise; and the Parks .Commission: a separate hallot will be given at the same time. and you may also mark this ballot in accord with your approval or disapproval of the questions put to you. It is important. too, to know that you can still vote, even though you can‘t make up your mind regarding all the vacancies or questions on the ballots. Don't worry. Your ballot is not spoiled if you do not vote for a candidate in each and every office. First of all. you should have. by now. checked to make sure your name is written correctly on the voters“ list which is posted at your local post office or mun- icipal hall: while at the same time you should have noted the exaCt location of your polling booth for December 10th. and the time during which you may cast your vote at the polls. But in case you didn’t both munici- palities ha‘ve advertised “polling booths" and “time” in large ad- vertisements in this week‘s issue of “The Liberal"_ This Saturday. December 10th, having made up your mind as to which candidates you wish to see elected by the close of that day, you enter the poll and approach the desk or table at which the polling officers. the scrutineers and deputy returning officers, are stationed; the first, to check your name on the voters’ list, the lat- ter. to present you with, and later receive, your ballots. The ballots for Council and School Trustees, in both Rich- mond Hill and Vaughan Township will have numerous names on them this year â€" and you must remember two important facts, if you wish your ballots to be cor- rect and counted: incorrect bal- lots are never accepted as legal, so follow these simple rules to ensure you vote correctly. â€"â€" be the means of electing men and women to public ofl‘ices. We began this little article. not for the benefit of the oldâ€" time, seasoned voter â€" those who go to the polls religiously each year because they relish the right to vote â€"- but instead, for the first-timeâ€"voter and those who have neglected the right to ex- ercise their franchise; in order to clarify a few points unsuspect- ed and unknown about our Can- adian polling booths and to point out the importance of “accuracy” when casting your vote. So let's start from the begin- ning. . TheseAre Balots For.
