Allan Ripley The annual Christmas Party and prize giving night was last Tuesday at the Trinity Anglican Church Hall. Many friends and members of the society enjoyed the lovely turkey dinner with all I hear many favourable reports of the every member visitation and many of our old friends are seen frequently attending these days. This Sunday is “White Gift Sunday" when we endeavour to remember those less fortunate than ourselves. and I wish at this time to thank all the many kind friends who have called me and offered much needed help and gifts. It has made me very humble and inspired us all on to even greater deeds. It is our sincere hope that no local family will be deprived of the little extras that add to the joyous Christmas sea- son and it is our happiness in‘ being a part of this service. Thornhlll Horticultural Society This weekend the long awaited arrival of the Pajevic family is anticipated. I am sure it will be a memorable occasion for all the people who have worked and planned so hard for it as well as the family themselves, we all wish them well and trust it will not be long until"they feel at home in our wonderful country. to ï¬nd someone had erred so rather than disappoint the boys Mr‘. Thornhill United Church News The new hockey team sponsor- ed by the Thornhill United Church seems to be well under way, the boys have been very en- thusiastic and most co-operative in returning the forms for regis- tration and insurance and are at present only 1’ couple of games behind in the schedule. The tables were ap ropriately de- corated with Chris‘gmas plants 8: the streamers and tree added much to this joyous occasion. Im- ‘mediately after dinner the prizes were awarded. Each exhibitor .who had been awarded points at lany show from March to October ‘1960 received a prize to commen- ‘surate total points won. Yours 3Truly was the very proud recipi- ent of the coveted T. Eaton Tro- phy for the most points in the flower sections. As this prize can be won only once and I have been a member for several years my good husband remarked, "It is about time you won. by the pro- cess of elimination it had to hap- pen sooner or later." His teasing remarks failed entirely to mar my pride. The wonderful weather and my beloved roses helped win the highest number of points in the exhibit of roses. Mr. Turn- penny persevered to win in the fruit and vegetable class. Mrs. Healey was awarded the prize in the decorative class. The Man- nings received highest number of points in the specimen class (one of the hardest prizes to win). Mrs. K. Mr. Brian Jenkins won both the Percy Bone Rose Bowl Trophy for a luncheon table arrangement, and The Four Roses Trophy for the highest number of points in the specimen classes for Hybrid Tea Roses.
