Neighbourhood Notes The annual meeting of the Vic- toria Square United Church will be held on Friday evening, Janu- ary 27. It will be preceded by a pot luck supper. Everyone wel- come. TV Farm Forum Some of the older boys at the Mental Hospital, Aurora are in need of skates in the larger sizes 9, 10 and 11. If you have a pair in this size range you are not using, and would like to donate, please leave them with Ron Tucker in Arnold's Store or with Dr. A. F. Binnington. Mission Band Mr. A. M. Tomlinson was in charge of the church service on Sunday morning. On Sunday, January 22 at 11.30 am. Dr. A. F. Binnington will be in charge of the service. The Sunday School officers and teachers for 1961 will be installed at this service. There will be a Cancer-Work meeting at the home of Mrs. Cecil Nichols on Thursday afternoon, January 26 at 2 pm. All ladies are invited to attend to assist in this worthwhile work. Sunday School Convention It is requested that the mem- bers of the senior choir make an effort to attend the evening ses- sion as they are to furnish the special music. Church News The 92nd annual convention of the Markham Township Sunday School Association will be held in the Victoria Square United Church and Community Hall. The morning session begins at 10 am. afternoon at 2 pm. and the evening session at 7.30 pm. The children’s service begins at 1.15 pm. in the Community Hall. The convention theme: Ye Shall Be My Witnesses. Now they are fully fledged Brownies and they are on their way to doing both of these prom- ises to the best of their ability. Cancer Meeting After the enrollment cere- mony, the Brownies played games and sang songs, and Mrs. Lye told the Brownies a story about the Brownies all over the world and of the true part of their promise. The first being their duty to God and the second a good citizen. The Commissioner was Mrs. Lye of Stouffville. The parents of the Brownies wergalso present. There was a short In Memoriam for the late Mrs. Louis L. Nichols, a xlfry va_lued and devout member. The fourth annual meeting of the W.M.S. of the York Presby- terial will be held on Wednesday, January 25th, in the Aurora United Church. There will be three sessions, 9.45 am. to 9.30 pm. It is hoped that a number of ladies will avail themselves and make an effort to attend this worthwhile meeting. The society sent their congratu- lations to Dr. A. F. Binnington for his article in the United Church Observer. Cards were signed for several friends who were ill. The names of the Brownies are: Susan Mc- Cleverty, Heather Harper, Marl- lyn Watson, Sharon Francis, Ani- ta Orr, Donna Winn, Elizabeth Foster, Louise Uens, and Kathy Harper. At a well attended meeting at the home of Mrs. G. Joyce, Bay- view Ave., on Wednesday after- noon of last week, the W.M.S. re- viewed the work of 1960 and made plans for the New Year. Communications were read from Mr. Tom Phillips, File Hills. Indian Reserve, Saskatchewan; Dr. L. Winnifred Bryce, Indore, India and from Rev. Frank Muir, Kobe, Japan. The grand total of $20.55 was raised and along with a $10.00 donation from the home and school will be forwarded to Thornhaven School. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Perry and her committee.
