April 26 at 8 pm. W.M.S. Church Service The annual church service of the W.M.S. will be held on Sun- day, April 23 at 7.30 pm. The guest speaker will be Miss Erna Leach. a graduate of the United Church Training School. The at- filiation service of the C.G.I.T. and Explorers will also be held. The members of the W.M.S. are asked to please bring either sand- wiches or cookies. Euchre Mr. and Mrs. Bill Williams. brother of Frank Williams, were involved in a head-on collision with a tractor-trailer, while re- turning home after spending the winter in Florida. Miss Lotta Mc- Kellar of Toronto, a passenger in the front seat was instantly killed. It took half an hour to release the two ladies. Mrs. Wil- liams is in a very serious condi- tion with a broken arm, internal injuries. crushed chest and head injuries. Dr. Binnington was in charge of the church service on Sunday morning. Mrs. S. DeFoe was the organist in the absence of the organist, Mrs. Jim Barker, who has been ill. During the service a reception for new members was held when the following were received into the membership of the church. This addition would accommodate pupils from a new subdivision. plus other growth in the area. Vice-chairman Mrs. Mona Robertson pointed out that several grade 7 and 8 pupils from three neighbouring one-room schools were also being accom- modated at Kleinburg. Mrs. H. Work Meeting The April meeting of the W.M.S. took the form of a Work meeting on Wednesday of last week, when the ladies met to quilt for the bale. Mission Band In answer to a query by the vice-chairman. Mr. Jackman re- ported that work was progressing on preparation of the budget and that indications were “the job of arriving at the final figures will be a lot easier this year than last". Plan Volume Buying Chairman H. A. Constable pointed out that the bill for audit- ing the board‘s books for 1960 was approximately $300 less than the amount paid by the individ- ual boards serving the area in 1959. Hope For Centennial Replying to a query by the vice-chairman. Mr. Jackman re- ported the date on the corner- stone of the old Maple public school. which has been incorpor- ated in the present George Bailey School. is 1861. The board ex- pressed the hope that enthusias- tic citizens of the community would undertake to organize a celebration of the centennial of this historic school. During discussion of accounts. the vice-chairman raised the question as to whether it would not be more economical to call for tenders for oil for all 25 schools in the area. Trustee Chan- dler replied that it was the in- tention of his committee to ask for tenders for from 90000 to 100,000 gals. of fuel oil for next season. and that it was reason< ably certain that a substantial redduction in cost would be real- ize .
