This we feel is terriï¬c. The crowds mill- ing in and out of the rooms ‘contained many new faces and M-rs. Ritchie’s aunt and uncle are visiting Toronto from Ire- land this month. They attended the “Festival of Nat-ions†show at Casa Loma this week and Mrs. Hall (her aunt) won the second prize - a white fox fur wrap. That must be what is known as the luck of the Irish. There is, at the moment, no indication when the new lights would be installed. Well Report Received Under such a set-up Yonge Street to Elgin Mills would be under operational control of Richmond Hill. It would be a good arrangement for the town, the Reeve asserted. The six lights would be at the Mark- ham Road junction with Yonge Street and at Yonge and Centre Streets, where lights are already in existence. New ones would be at Yonge and Crosby, Yonge and Levendvale, Yonge and In-‘ dustrial Road and Yonge and; Elgin Mills Road. l Many Projects Being Considered Wgrks Committee's Head Asserts May Extend four - lane Portion 0f Road Richvale Electronics STOP 22, YONGE STREET TU. 4-1552 AV. 5-2669 PETER R. This book has only ’scattered items of interest toi 1York County historians outside iMetro, but it is the most un- ) {biased gogqunt that exists. Historical material about the ‘County of York, exclusive of Metropolitan Toronto, is in a rather scattered and disorgan- ized state. Many of the exist- ‘ing books not only lack indexes to aid the researcher, but also ‘contain conflicting and erron- eous accounts of historical inci- dents. To aid the many students of York County history, the Richmond Hill Public Library is making a master index of the materials which the libray holds. This index lists places. names, etc. of interest to Richmond Hill and York County residents. The following are the books and pamphlets which have been in- dexed. Pioneer Life in York County by E. C. Guillet (Toronto, 1946) A very readable account of the early days of York Cppnty by Book reviews from the mon'd Hill‘Publjc ‘Lribrary The town did all the drilling and testing in connection with the well, said the Reeve. Final decision on the sharing of the well could materially affect sit- uations such as the request by Vaughan Township Council for water for Elgin Mills residents. Making Sewage Survey The Ontario Water Resources Commission has been requested to proceed with the survey of the town’s sewage disposal re- quirements, said Reeve Perkins. This was agreed to by town owned by Markham Township and negotiations between the two municipalities as to sharing of the water are expected to take place soon. The preservation of its histor- ical records and materials is most important in the life of any county. Unfortunately many items of local interest have dis- appeared or have been lost to libraries and museums outside the present County of York.
