Toronto Will Discuss Jail Farm With Markham Township Officials The first offence occurred in June or July of 1960 and since that time the youths have done so many “jobs” that they had even lost track of them them- selves. They even pleaded guilty to one charge that was laid against them on an offence‘ committed during 1959 - al- most a year before they began their operations. This was dis- missed. l Eight of the break-ins occur- red in Vaughan Township, eight in Richmond Hill, two each in Markham Township and Metro Toronto and one in Woodbridge. Total loot from the break-ins is thought to be more than $1,800, of which nothing has‘ been recovered. l Garry Smith and Allen Hart- ford, both of Richvale, pleaded guilty on all charges. The of- fences were committted in Vaughan, Whitchurch and Mark- ham Townships as well as Rich- mond Hill, Metro Toronto and Woodbridge. Two members of a local “break and enter” gang which has been in operation in the area for almost two years ap- peared in Richmond Hill Magis- trate's Court last Thursday on a total of more than 35 charges of break and entry. A third man, who is' also thought to be a member of the gang, was re- manded until March 15. Garry Smith and Allen Hart- ford, both of Richvale, pleaded guilty on all charges. The of- fences were committted in Vaughan, Whitchurch and Mark- ham Tnurnchinc 2e um“ a: Rinh. They were arrested last Suns day morning by Markham Town- ship Police after they had been scared away from the Rolling Hills Golf and Country Club in Whitchurch Township. Late last Saturday, Markham Town- ship Police received a call from Vandorf O.P.P. that the club was being broken into. After‘ investigation by Constables Mc- Cauge and Denby, David Mere- dith, the third man charged, was arrested. About 5:30 Sunday morning. Sergeant W. Shearn of Markham Townshp Police ar- rested» the other two youths. York Central Hospital Chair- man Douglas Storms said that it was expected that the first sod would be turned in April. Ten- ders would be called around the end of March. Emphasizing the great need for the hospital, he said that it would be inadequate before it was finished. The first phase was being proceeded with and the building was being plan- ned so that the second stage could be developed with the least possible amount of trouble Offences So Numerous Guilt Pleas Overdone Youths Forget Where A cheque for $214.27 was pre- sented to the auxiliary by Miss Kinsellra.
