The Richmond Hill Public Library is sponsoring a vaca- tion reading club for boys and girls eight years and over. The children’s library will be dec- orated with gay posters and a real miniature flying carpet to introduce boys and girls to a summer of adventure through reading: Now that formal lessons have ended for another season, it is time to explore the wonder- ful world outdoors, around our country and the world. Why not venture far afield and discover adventure and fun in another country, on an- other planet, or even in an- ‘other time? Simply by turn- ing the pages of a book. any- thing is possible. An exciting list of books has been prepared for the program and these books will be on a special table in the children's library. Any boy or girl wish- ing to join the vacation read- ing club can take a list, choose a book to read, and embark on a wonderful adventure through books. After the first book has been read, each member is given a miniature flying carpet to pin up on the bulletin board to chart his progress. Those who read eight or more books will receive a certificate to show that he or she has completed the program. They will also gain a seat on the Flying Oar- pet. They were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Barber, proprietors of the farm. Included 1n the group were children from Grades 1 to 8.
