McLean. president of the Concord Com- munity Ratepayers Associatiom announced that contrary to the association's decision of last week that they would withdraw their objections to Vaughan: Township's proceeding with the proposed new Edgeley water area without a public hearing, the association huad instead, maintained its objection to the dispensing‘1with a ‘public hear- ing. The weather was perfect for the Victoria Square District Lions Club Auction Sale and Funifare held last Friday eve- ning and Saturday in the Vic- toria Square Community Park. Lions Hold Successful Auction Sale, Funfare On Friday evening, the rum- mage sale was held and the goods for the auction sale were on display. Saturday afternoon Alvin Farmer as auctioneer and Gor- don Orr as clerk, took charge of the auction sale with part of it being held outside. The ma- jor portion, consistng of every imaginable article from an an- tique toilet to complete bed- room suites was held in the new community building. There were many antique ar- ticles and prices were very good. Six flowered soup dishes sold for $8; a pine chest (the whole chest having been made from one piece of pine) sold for $16.50; a solid oak table went for $11. The children enjoyed them- selves with pony rides and ï¬sh- pond. The ladies auxiliary of the Lions Club held the bake sale. They also sold refreshments. Mrs. H. Collard made a large ‘spon'ge cake and a lucky draw was held wi¢h Mrs. Gordon Mortson the winner. 7 Bingo was played both eve- nmgs. it 10 pm.
