United Shurch' Women met at the home of Mrs. S. DeFoe on Wednesday evening of last week with 38 ladies in attend- ance. The meeting opened with words of welcome by Mrs. De- Foe. Mrs. Collard was in charge of the devotional assisted by Mrs. Cecil Nichols. United Church Women Mr. McDonald and Mr. 05- tick. two members of York County EMO. showed a film and spoke on nuclear bombs and their effect and precautions that should be taken in case of an attack. Mrs. Reid Brum- well thanked all who had help- ed make it a success. There were 13 tables of play- ers at the euchre party held in the Victoria Square Commun- ity Hall last week. A request was received for Christmas gifts for mental pa-t- ients of York County. Articles such as note paper. stamps, soap and kleenex. were some of the suggestions. They are not to be wrapped. Shiaron Francis was presented for enrolment into the Sister- hood of Girl Guides by her Seconder Susan Sherwood at the Guide meeting last week. The shower of canned goods and vegetables for the Vietor‘ Home has been delivered and a note received thanking the United Church Women sincerely for their continued interest.
