Mr. Rodgers says that if a co [decent sized house could be Richmond m" found to rent the clinic might ‘operate off the hospital grounds â€", temporarily. Support for the plan comes from the Canadian Mental Health Association. Ontario Hospnal Services Commission and the North York Hospital Council. Plans for the hospital addi- tion are completed and Dr. Er- win Crawford. chief of staff, says tenders "could be let to- morrow." Officials are waiting to find out how much money the hospital levy approved in the recent North York Township el- ect-ion will bring. A. George Roberts. hospital administrator. says plans so far are in a state of “suspended animation" because the psychia- trist they hope to get to head up the clinic has not yet given a firm acceptance of their offer. The proposed clinic would employ a psychiatrist. a clini- cal psychologist and a social worker and would be equipped to handle out-patients. Will House (link In New Addition When Completed About 20 beds are to be made available for psychiatric patâ€" ients in the new 427 bed exten- sion of the hospital. North York's first mental health clinic is to be opened soon at Branson Hospital as part of the new hospital addi- tion The clinic could be put in operation in temporary quar- ters before the new building is finished. “Woodbridge High School is particularly fortun- ate in the way in which the community has identified with the school. We are very conscious of this close support and consider it to be one of our greatest as- sets. We know also that because we can feel this kind of help from the community that the parents are giv- ing the same kind of encouragement to the students. With such encouragement children can accomplish great things. The secondary school period is one of decision for most students. They will need in 1963 more than ever before the very close support and good counsel of their parents if they are to make those decisions which will augur most for their future. In Woodbridge High School itself. the next year will bring little change. We will continue to have the ado vantage of the close personal contact possible in a small school. For students for whom technical or com- mercial education is suitable, courses in Thornhill Sec- ondary School are available. We believe that in the next year the students of this school will continue to achieve in a way that will justify the pride that the community has in Woodbridge High School.” Programme of studies. The success which we have experienced at the Grade IX level with this prog- ramme encourages us to look forward to the day when it will be in operation on all grade levels. It has al- ways been the foremost concern of everyone in this school to think of each child as having individual worth and to seek by whatever effort was necessary to discover and cultivate the best in him. Under the Reorganized Programme of studies a broader spec- trum of courses gives us greater scope in carrying out this objective. Since Thornhill Secondary School was formed in 1955 ~â€" the first vear of its life as an af- ternoon shift at Richmond Hill â€"â€" it has continued to grow not only physically but also in the establish- ing of a tradition for which it may be justly proud. Its academic achievement as well as its success in extra-curricular activities is well known. Thornhill Secondary School accepts the challenging responsi- bilities placed upon it with the introduction of the new programme in education with the same spirit and with even greater determination to maintain, and even exceed, its past successes. The teaching staff at Thornhill are aware of the need for parents and school to work together if each child is to achieve his greatest growth. We feel that we have had the help and support of the parents in the past and that. we -will continue to have this same co-operation in the future. It is our sincere hope that every child in this school will have a successful and happy 1963.” L. B. Morrison, Prinoiggll, Woodbridge High School: “In 1963. Thornhill Secofidarfi'flsehool will entei' the second year offloperaflon under the Reorganized Continued From Page ; pletely satisfactory. accommodation had to be used. We are now entering a period of consolidation and we expect that firm and steady progress will be shown throughout the rest of the year. Bayview is still new enough that school traditions are being established day by day. We intend to help students realize that they are faced with greater opportunities than any group of secondary school students have ever had in this province before. We intend also to help them re- alize that to achieve less than 100‘»; of what is pos- sible is to fail. We think that it will not be too long before measured by this standard, there will be few failures in this school.” “The tradition of excellence both in scholarship and extra-curricular activities which this school en- joys was not built up in any one year. Rather it is a tribute to the serious hard work and great co-opera- tion of the students and the teachers throughout the life of this school. The parents. too. are entitled to a fair share of the credit for establishing this tradition. It is only because it is important to them that it is important to the students. When the parents let us know that it is important to them. teachers are en- couraged to make the extra effort that leads each student to search for that possibility of outstanding work that is within him. At a time when the world is becoming more complex, making education more important than ever before. our graduates are sa'oinn.r to find it more difficult to get education beyond sec- ondary school. It is evident that only the best is good enough. In Richmond Hill we seek to give each student the utmost service in teaching, in guidance. and in out-of-classroom activities. We think that it A. S. Elson, Principal. Thornhill Secondary School: is heat for him that he be exneéled En Elfin; c(chool the very most of which he is capable. If each «tudent does this then the reputation and stature of Richmond Hill High School will continue to grow in 1963." ' F. W. Morrow. Princ‘iggl.
