The Hooper family atâ€" tended a service for Dorothy Hooper Robb's mother-in-law at Shelburne on Friday of last week, and Mr. and Mrs. James Rodick attended a relative’s funeral in the London district. To all these neighbors we offer sincere sympathy. Mrs. S. J. English joined the Gray family at their Forest Hill home last week-end. She tells us she received a card from Mr. E. Walton in Florida, and Mrs. W. is eagerly looking It is the last day of 1962. clear sunshine and 10 below zero - and too busy 3 time for reminiscing so we'll do that next week. A good many Christmas plans were upset by mumps this year, with many small children in quarantine - however. they ex- pected to make up for lost time on New Year’s Day. A former neighbor, Mr. Percy Middleton. who now lives at Markham, was involved in an accident with machinery at M-F farms last week, injuring his foot so badly that it had to be amputated. Bill and Anne Henry and their twin daughters were guests at the Norman Reid home on Christmas, and at New,Years the Reid’s guests were Mrs. John Brown and her family. The Hooper family Christmas was dimmed by the illness of Mrs. Robb, and the mumps which George’s family contract- ed, but New Year‘s day saw a family gathering there. At the Rodick farm there was a Christ- mas celebration with Rodick and Harper relatives present, and on New Year's the party was at the Harpers' home near Bolton. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Steffler and their family were guests at the S. R. Patterson home Christmas day, and on New Year‘s entertained the Patter. SOUS. There has been a good deal of entertainment for Dr. and Mrs. Donald Otis of Colorado, who are holiday guests at the A. W. Miller farm. There were family parties at the home of Mr. and Mrs. P. Mingay, Mark- ham. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Miller, Scarboro. and on Sunday of this week Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Miller held an "At Home" for friends. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Robinson and their family were home at Christmas time. and enter- tained Kitchener relatives on last Sunday. On New Year's Day they were guests of Mrs. Rob- inson's brother at Kitchener. Murray Brown, who spent the Christmas season in hospital, was expected home this week, and Mrs. John Donaldson has been rendering first \aid at the John Brumwell home. where Margaret Brumwell has been ill. At Christmas time Mr. and Mrs. George Clark were mem- bers of a family party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Johnston, Markham; tihe Mc- Quay family were guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Al Jones, Arnleigh Heights; and Mr. and Mrs. Elmore Hill Were at Thorn- hill with Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Robinson and their family. Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Venus and their children Were home for Christmas, and enjoyed vis- its with friends throughout the holiday season, while the Ger- ald Johnson family ‘went to Grandma‘s house’ at Pembroke. Brenda Wellman played a group of piano selections which included, “It came upon a Mid- night Clear”, and accompanied David Hord was home for Christmas, and the Hord family visited Ross‘ mother at the Freeman Barker home in the afternoon. The sights and sounds of Christmas have filled the air for the past week or two. The laden postman grew later and later on his busy‘rounds. Shop- pers bought, exchanged and bought again. School children spent trying days with exam- inations, and then gave them- selves wholeheartedly to the Christmas season; and house- wives baked and brewed and scoured and polished for the great day. We hope you had a happy one! Mrs. Clayton Jones' music pupils entertained at a Christ- mas recibal held at her home. January 11. winter euchre series begins at Buttonville Hall. January 8. stewards and al- ders meeting of Brown's Corn- ers. At Buttonville School some of the bloom was off the Christ- mas party, with many children away with mumps. Almost half the primary room were absent, and the other rooms suflered also. However. for those who were present it was a happy day. As a special treat, the school board presented each child with a Christmas sur- prise. Mr. and Mrs. George Hooper and their family attended a christening service at Richmond Hill Presbyterian church Dec- ember 23rd when Mrs. Hooper’s nephew was baptized. Rev. and Mrs. Morrison Sell- ar were Christmas guests at the Rodrick farm this week. Music Recital Held Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Hood‘ were hosts at a Christmas day party. and on New Year’s they were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Thomson at Unionville. Dates To Remember It was a Christmas re-union for the A. W. Miller family Monday of this week when the whole family was present at the farm for Christmas dinner. Dr. and Mrs. Donald Otis (Velma Miller) and Rebecca of Monte Vista. Colorado, arrived on Sun- day for Christmas and to spend a week visiting relatives. January 4, Friday, at 11 a.m., Buttonville Y.C.H.A. meets at the home of Mrs. George Kelly. January 30, annual meeting of Brown’s Corners United Church. Christmas Janie Lehman has had the mumps, as have Gary Copp, Jimmie Jones and David Sav- age.
