VOL. 84, NUMBER 34 One of the biggest sport phenomenas of the last few years is the advent of skiing as a major winter sport. The day of the skier is definitely at hand. Ski lodges and resorts are springing up in all sorts of odd places and ski specialty shops are thriving as never before. ...r.... ....v __ Skiers comé'ih'iii'éhépes and sizes, from Grandma and Grandpa to the tiniest of small fry. They come in all their shining array - all bent on hurling their bodies downhill in complete accord with the laws of gravity. , The Toronto Ski Club operation at the Summit is g: resounding success. Three ski tows in close prox- lmity to a large population have turned snow covered slopes into a kaleidoscppe of co_10r_s. ;. n. 1 To the casual observer skiing has become not only a sport but something of a fashion parade. Skis have bloomed out in a riot of color to match the rest of the dashing ensemble and range from shades of magenta through to sombre black. Ski pants are a far cry from the wooly utilitarian garments they used to be. Stretch fabrics in all colors of the spect- rum are now the absolute must. While most men go for the traditional black or navy slack the odd individualist will come booming down a trail in a delicate gold shade. Jackets are not merely a piece of warm cloth- ing anymore. They too come in the gaudiest hues and contain enough flaps and pockets to pack away enough food and clothing for a weekend. Toques are de rigeur and some sport tassels of alarm- ing length. If the wearer were ever to be stranded on a lonely trail there is enough excess material in some toques to form a small shelter. Wonder what it would be like sheltering in a knitted tent? As to the ladies fashions they run the complete and entire gamut of shade and color. The basic re- quirement for being a real swish snow bunny seems to be crowding oneself into a pair of stretchy slacks at least one full Size too small. Their efforts are not in vain and seem to be much appreciated by the male ski bird. WILSON - NIBLETT Section Second Reasons Why YOU Should Buy A Used Car From WILSON-NIBLETT MOTORS 3. O.K. The winner of the best two-out-ofâ€"three ser- ies will represent this area in the OMHA playdowns. In the opening game of the series the tables were turned on the Cleaners as Newmarket took them to the cleaners by a 7-3 count. Newmarket came on strongly in the third period as the Cleaners wilted like a starched collar on a humid day. Doug Acomb popped in two goals for the Cleaners and Har- vey Gordon added a single goal. Dave Broderick was active in the assist department. Our First Demonstrator Sale THESE COMPANY OWNED CARS ARE ALL IN IMMACULATE CONDITION. ALL HAVE AP- PROXIMATELY 4,000 MILES. FULL NEW CAR WARRANTY.
