Under new provincial legis- lation. it is now only necessary to approve the county system by a majority vote of council members and it is likely a re- solution will be brought to council at its fall session. Aggregate assessment of ‘ the county is $180,494,020, the assessment committee reported. Present cost or assessment is approxi- mately $1.000 per each ‘ $1,000,000 assessment. It was recommended that county members discuss, the proposal with their respective councils. Bylaw Needs Majority Council Vote Some of the advantages of a county system of assessment. the committee listed were: Uniform processing of all in- formation leading to more uni- form assessment throughout the county, to permit specialist training ensuring more intelli- gent assessing of complicated industries and commercial properties, greater flexibility in the use of assessors who have acquired advanced training and experience. This would promote more equitable assessment in each municipality as related to other municipalities, any re- assessment project could be carried out by county staff e1- Ontario Land Surveyors 53 Bedford Park Avenue Richmond Hill, TU. 4-2941 105 Willowdale Ave..
