Toronto, Ont Patrick Keith Bell who last week pleaded guilty to break- ing, entering and theft under $50 from Donway Markets was given one year's suspended sen- tence in magistrate’s court to- day. Bell is formerly from Sharon, now of Toronto. Bail was set at $2.000 casl‘. or property each and they were remanded in custody until July 23. Hunt was also charged with auto theft. John William Roy Angliss, R.‘ R. 3 Newmarket, was charged with dangerous driving and breaking and entering with in- tent by Markham Police Tues- day. He was remanded in cus- tody for a week. Blair Bate- man and George Hall of Clare- mont charged with possession of stolen goods were remanded in custody until Friday in New- market magistrate’s court. Charges were laid following investigations by Markham Police Officers Clifford Cox and Donald Dukes at the George Brand Service Station and the Don Mills Driving Range. Frank Willey, who was ar- rested when he was caught throwinz stones at his brother, pleaded guilty and was fined $10 and costs for being intoxi- cated in a public place. Charge was laid by Markham Police. Barney Wayne Palmeau was fined $10 and costs for illegal possession of liquor; he plead- ed guilty. Mrs. 'l'ed Bennett and Mrs. Wilton Young spent the past week at the Bennett’s cottage at Kearney, north of Huntsville and Burks Falls. Ronald M. Oswald pleaded guilty to illegal possession of liquor June 22 after he was caught throwing a beer bottle out a window in Markham Vil- lage. Fine was $10 and costs. A charge of dangerous driv- ing was dismissed against Ben- jamin Bajarl of Box Grove, who pleaded not guilty to the charge laid by Markham Village Pol- ice June 22. Mrs. P. Won-all and daugh- ter Noreen, 47 Elmdale Court, spent a few days in Cobden, Ont.. with Mr. and Mrs. 0. Hawkins. formerly of Richmond Hill. Mr. and Mrs. Owen Grant and family of South Taylor Mills Drive have just returned home following an enjoyable motor trip through the Mari- times. Mr. Bob Hannah was a visitor in town Monday. Mr. Hannah is remembered as the former proprietor of Bob's Variety Store, Yonge Street North. The store stood where the Discount Plaza is now located. Sympathy is extended to Mrs. Dave Holt. Church Street South, on the death of her mother, Mrs. Doris Esther Mugford of Queensvilfe. Mrs. Mugford was killed late Sunday afternoon when her car went out of cont- rol on the third concession of Whitchurch township near Au- rora and flipped dver. For some time Mrs. Mugford was asso- ciated with Kresge's in Rich- ‘mond Heights Plaza. On Saturday evening, after a barbecue dinner at the home of Miss Mary Dowsett, Harrygan Crescent, Miss Ardls Steel was tendered a surprise birthday party by her parents at her home 236 Jacey Anne Drive. After a period of dancing and presentation of gifts, the twen- ty one guests enjoyed a buffet luncheon. Among those present were: Miss Crystal Bowyer, Miss Mary Dowsett, MlSS Carol Fox. His family will be moving in August to Peterborough, where he will be teaching next winter. Just returned from New York and Montreal after a busy week gathering colour and fabric in- formation for Spring, 1964, was Mrs. John Postlethwaite, Pal- fiser Crescent. The T. Eaton Co. Ltd. recent- ly announced her appointment to the general buying and mer- chandising division as accessory fashion co-ordinator for the catalogue. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Bennett! Markham Road, entertained about 25 friends and relatives on Sunday. in honour of Mr. Bennett’s aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Taylor, from Carshalton. Surrey, England. Mr. and Mrs. Taylor arrived by BOAC on Saturday night, and are staying with Mr. and Mrs. Percy Bennett of Victoria Square. Mr. Bennett and his sister had not met for 35 years. Alan was the choreogra- pher for the Mikado and now starts busily rehearsing for the C. N. E. Grandstand Show. Former classmates at Rich- mond Hill High school, the girls have not seen each other for four years and spent several hours reminiscing and bringing each other up to date. Miss Giles recently graduated from Toronto General Hospital Nursing School; Miss Waern as a graphic artist with Art Comâ€" position Associates in Toronto; and Miss Jennings is a fourth- year student at the University of Toronto TU. 4-769] Holidaying at Thunder Beach this week are Dr. D. The Co-operative Vacation Bible School held at St. Mat- thew’s United Church. came to a successful conclusion Friday night, when a gratifying num- ber of parents and friends gath- ered in the church to enjoy the closing exercises. Rev. A. Myers. St. Paul's Lutheran, gave the opening re-‘ marks, followed by Mrs. J. Lowens. director, who greeted? the parents and meted out well-‘ deserved praise and thanks to‘ all teachers and ministers ln-‘ volved in the effective running of such a school. Gratitude was also expressed for cookies, etc., donated for daily refreshment time for the younger departâ€" ments. The shy- ness of the nursery, the bravado of the kindergarten, the beau- tiful singing by the primary, and the very interesting stud- ent-made puppet show, “David and Goliath”, gave evidence of the hard yet rewarding work of all teachers. The evening was brought to a close by Rev. James Bum of St. Matthews, after which the parents visited their youngsters’ department and admired and collected handwork done during the school team. Beloved son of Mr. and Mrs. George Shepherd of 165 Colborne Ave., Richmond Hill, Greg was in his let year. Rev. J. N. Hepburn conducted the services and pallbearers were Bob Lewis, Brian Finner- ty, Bill Hack, George Cowan, Hans Wi-esner and Neil Sheph- erd. Interment was in Richmond Hill Cemetary. Greg had been a resident of Richmond Hill for six years. during which time he had at- tended Richmond Hill High School and had been keenly in- terested in sports.
