November 15 was observed as Bible Sunday when the service was conducted by the Rev. F. B. Keys. former audio-visual sec- retary to the Upper Canada Bible Society. He spoke on the origin of the British and For- eign Bible Society, and of the immense task of translating the scripture into the many thous- ands of different languages. In Canada alone, bibles are need- ed in seventy different lang- uages. This task is carried on by dedicated workers and can only be continued with the con- stant financial support of all Christians. The south group, under the leadership of Mrs. H. Burling- ton, had charge of the pro- gram. They had on display some novel and practical ideas for Christmas gifts and decor- ations. There was also a gift stall of sewing. preserves and baking. Mrs. W. Raeburn led the devo- tional period, leading thoughts to the Son of God who came “not to be ministered unto, but to minister". This was the ex- ample she said. which mem- bers should strive to follow. Re- freshments were served by members of the south group. Johnston was guest speaker for the anniversary services at Kit- chener Baptist Church. The annual meeting of the WA was held at the home 0 Mrs. A. McLeod on November 17 with a very good attendance. President Mrs Lennie express- ed her appreciation of the won- derful support she had received during the past year. She had encountered many difficulties. but found the fellowship of the church and the WA a source of great strength and comfort. In the theme: “Where are we go- ing and how?" there did not appear to be much progress, but with a united effort. she felt much more could be accomp~ lished in the coming year. Boys and girls are asked to take their used toys to their Sunday school classes on December 6 and arrange- ments will be made to de- liver them. On December 6 the young adults will meet at the home of Mary Carswell. The next meeting will be held December 14 when the school choir will sing and children‘s art work will be on display. On December 6 a travelogue on-Palestine will be given by Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Naylor. This is said to be one of the finest travelogues on Palestine ever made. Native music plays in the background as Mrs. Naylor leads the audience through the scenes of Palestine. Take the children. it will help them greatly to ap- preciate Christmas. Length of showing is 45 minutes. On December 6 at the morn- ing service Rev. A. I. Brownies ind Guides A special service will be held December 13 at Emmanuel Church at 11 am. The laying of the cornerstone of the new church will be held. Local clergymen will be in attendance at this special event.
