Thornhill midgets had a surprise visit from Billy Garl- and and he was given the job of being goal judge for the eve- ning. Billy, now living in Ot- tawa is a former Thornhill boy who played on the Thornhill Church League Team for Holy Trinity Peewees and Bantams. He now plays in an Ottawa mid- get team. Billy told Jim An- tonaci of ARC and Thornhill Hockey Association that the Liberal goes to his home in Ot- tawa, and he enjoys reading about the hockey exploits of his friends in the Sport Scene col- umn. t It at :k Bruce Shilton. 15 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. George Shilton. Thornhill has been playing hockey since he was eight years old. He is the prod- uct of a family who are ardent hockey enthusiasts and he learned his first hockey at the Thornhill pond. He has played on the United Minor Midget Team, and one year with the Thornhill United Church Ban- tams. Last year he played on the Richmond Hill Blue Liners under coach Red Garner. Bruce thinks Red is a very good coach. but then what Blue Liner ever thought any different. This year Bruce plays centre for the IGA Black Hawks, the Midget team and has chalked up a total of 37 goals and 28 assists to his credit. Bruce thinks hockey is a lot of fun . . . a real good sport. “Sure helps to keep me from getting bored," he said. Last year when‘ he was at Thornhill Secondary he play- ed midget basketball and soc- cer. This year he is a grade 11 student at Langstaff Secondary and plays junior basket ball. In the summer Bruce caddies at the Thornhill Golf course and placed second in the caddie tou~ rnament last September. He’s also played bantam baseball for the last two years.
