Three trucks and a farm tractor were required to winch the ’1oad across a cultivated ï¬eld. matted roots. It takes heavy duty equipment and lots of power to get deep enough to really do the job. It takes ï¬ve or six treatments between now and fall to make twitch mots give up. The use of chemical weed kil- lers along with cultivation is advocated by Mr. Wall. with results up to about the level of summer fallow. He recommends Dalapon or Amitrol along with cultivation afterwards. These have cleaned up many ï¬elds. he reports. and applied properly should work most of the time. Spraying has to be done on actively growing foliage and won't work on old mature plants. Naturally it hasn‘t got a chance if the twitch isn‘t fairly well started.
