TIERTJHILL UNITED GORMLEIV UNITED MISSIONARY CHURCH lJug Milk Price Is anreased By 2¢ The price of milk in retail outlets featuring jug milk this week has been increased two cents a three quart jug, in con- formity with the increase in home delivery and other outlets put into effect recently by most dairies in this area. The Becker Milk Company. which operates a store on Yonge Street in the Levendale shop- ping area Richmond Hill, and at Uplands Avenue in Thorn- hill, Mac’s Milk which has a store on Levendale Road, with another planned for Doncaster; and Uplands Dairy which has an outlet on Markham Road near Bayview, all have confirm- ed the two cent Increase. This will mean that the con- sumer of jug milk will pay 57c for three quarts of homogenized, 51c for 2%, and 47c for skim milk. President Robert Lowe of the Becker Milk Company blamed the increase in payroll costs due to the new Canada Pension Plan which will be introduced in January 1966. as well as higher wages and general costs for the increase. Visit Thorntree Antiques SATURDAY MORNING AT THE THORNHILL FARMERS MARKET Correspondent Mrs. Fred St. Jolm 75 Crestwood Road Willowdale Telephone 889-3443 At the morning service Dr. Binnington spoke on “The Day of Heroes." He reminded the congregation that Remembrance morning nurse." practically lift- ed me off my feet and waltzed me to the end of the corridor and kissed me soundly before going into his patient. Emotion seemed to surge through the corridors, all the lights were on, patients calling. I slipped into the wash room to cry but the ,head nurse was sitting on the edge of the tub crying. She sob- bed at me, “Get out, this is my crying hole." me except with a stern, “Good 1 To those who were young adults in 1918 memory is still clear. I was in training in the Winnipeg General Hospital†bathing a patient in bed, when a triumphant clatter of bells, whistles, sirens, horns and even train whistles filled the air as well as a confused shouting from the streets. I tucked the patient warme in bed and went out to the ball. A very formal doctor who had never addressed Later this exultation was changed to apprehension, grief or th-ankfulness as we waited at the station for the incoming trains to free their passengers. As they came down the ramp on stretcher: in chairs or hob- bling with crutches we scanned each face for a familiar brother or friend behind the bandages. How terribly young they all were! There was gaiety too. When the Little Black Devils came home and paraded down Port- age Avenue to a halt their young officer in unmilitary manner yelled, “All right fel- lows fall outâ€. With that he stepped back and fell on a safety island. Amid laughter he was picked up and shouldered Car Turns Over Two people were hospitalized and the car in which they were riding was badly damaged in an accident Monday afternoon on the Maple Sideroad. A Treated for abrasions and back injuries were Vance Doug- las, 48, and Angelo Deslllppo. 26, both of Toronto, who were passengers in a car driven by Giorgio Clmmarustl, 33, of To- ronto. According to Vaughan Town- ship Pollce, Mr. Clmmarusti was east bound on Maple and had just come over the crest of a hill when he saw a parked school bus. He braked to a halt, and in doing so, went otf the road into sbme guard rails, rol- led over and landed upside down in a ditch. About $600 damage was done to the car.
