Flintstone Const. Co. Gets Refusal Reasons E. Miller of Flintstone Con-‘ struction Company of Downs- ylew has again asked Rich- mond Hill Planning Board at last Thursday‘s meeting why his _application for residential de- velopment in the Crosby Aven- jle-Nea-l Drive area is consider- ed premature. ; At a previous meeting of planning board Mr. Miller has been taken to task for shouting. in at this meeting his solicitor Irving Aiken acted as his spokesman and the questioning was carried out in a quiet man- ner. Chairman Howard Whillans told Mr. Aiken the board had received from council a state- ment of policy that that body did not want to entertain any plans for residential subdivision at this time. When asked if the plan would be considered suit- able when residential develop- ment 15 again considered timely. the chairman said that the plan- ning board has no way of know- ing the thinking of council on the subject in the next six month or the next year, so it would be useless to discuss or process the plans at this time. Finally, with the approval of members of the board, Sec- retary Harry Sayers read the letter which had been sent to the Department of Municipal Affairs on July 18 which set forth planning board’s reasons for considering the application premature. These included the fact that‘ the town is engaged in formu-1 lating a new official plan to chart the future growth of Richmond Hill. with special consideration being given to correcting the imbalance of residential and commercial-in- dustrial assessment. It was agreed that there is a storm drainage problem in the area. which fact had been noted in the department's letter, al- though it has been somewhat alleviated, sanitary sewers also have been a problem in the area, the board noted in its letter. CorrectiVe measures have been undertaken but will re- quire lengthy testing to deter- mine if they are effective. The board'I letter also noted that part of the land included in the plan is owned by the town find has not been purchased by the developer. Reading Is Theme 0f Pleasantville H & S Nat. Book Wk.
