HIDE There are some days when yoti just want to run and hide. I've had them in this business and undoubtedly you've had them in yours. You know what it’s like. You dot your t‘s and cross your eyes. You say hello to people you don‘t know, forget to say hello to the ones you know and get accused of being stuffed. I‘ve had many of them and it just makes me shudder to think of the ones I’ve got coming up. _There was that time in Kingston when I waited until 3 am to get a call in from Kingston Aces who niere playing in Leopoldville or some such farflung p ace. . The call finally came in, the score was in double figures. and, being tired. dozed off halfway through the results. It was but a bare second and the chap on the phone didn’t even realize it. I came up with a "yepâ€. picked up the next scoring play and carried right on. it * OOPS! The trouble came when the paper came out and I had the score 10-8 for the Aces when it was â€" n: k 4 no. the Aces did win ~ 11-10 for them. Just a minor difference but I heard about it. Then there was the weekly job of writing up the bowling scores at the Cloverleaf Bowl-A-Drome. This was a particularly risky business because the boss bowled there and every time you left a name out. came up with a wrong score, guess who heard about it first? There were many bad days. There was also particularly a trying time that one year at Royal Military College when they held their “endurance†trials. This meant the particiâ€" pants had to run up and down dale. through tunnels. mud holes, and other torture traps. Yours ignony ran up and down in an effort to follow them. twisted here and there, charged up and over a hill and into the St. Lawrence River or one of its relatives. Just a bad day.
