The group has been operating a Sunday morning family Bible hour there for the past several months. Pastor Andrew Jones reports that the family Bible hour will now meet at 9.45 am and the worship service will be held at 11 am. Attendance and offering have indicated that this en~ largement of the work locally should be undertaken at once, he says. The United Missionary Church has three churches in Metro, others at Stouffville. Altona, Dickson Hill, Markham. Gorm- ley and two in Scott Township. Several years ago this conserv- ative, evangelical denomination opened a church in Brampton and more recently in West Rouge. The denomination has more than 50 congregations in Ontario. Several families from the Gormley congregation, resident in Or near Richmond Hill, have formed the new congregation now meeting in Beverley Acres School. The annual pot luck supper for WI members and their families was held in the com- munity hall Tuesday evening of last week. Following the de- licious meal, euchre was enjoy- ed with the following winners: Mrs. Carl Walker, Mrs. William Sandle. Mrs. VKWeedon. The wor- ship service was taken by Mrs. A. Mortson, Mrs. N. Tyndall and Miss Edith Boyd. Mrs. Boyd read a chapter from the study book and a film “Land of San Fujan" was shown and enjoyed. Despite the stormy weather a very successful Valentine tea and bake sale, sponsored by the choir, was held in the Sunday school room Saturday after- noon. Proceeds amounted to $102 which will be used to pur- chase new choir music. The flowers in the church Sunday morning were in loving memory of Mrs, A. Valliere who was laid to rest in Victoria Square Cemetery Tuesday at- ternoon of last week. The Sunday morning church service was taped and will be sent to Mr. and Mrs. Desmond Meed (Lillian Nichols) in Ethi- opia, Africa. Plans are being made for classes for teenagers and adults wishing to join the church on profession of faith. Reception of members will be held at the next communion service, April 21. If there are those who would like to join by transfer of membership from other churches, Rev. M. R. Jenkinson will be in the church February 25 from 7 to 8 pm to give what- ever help is needed.
