The reason he wasn't nappy was because he hadn’t anything to do. You see, the Littlest Cherub made the mistake of his life because he thought learning was a bore and a chore. That’s why when the great crisis ,of his life came along he was so unprepared. He wouldn’t learn to polish stars, play his harp or even sing. In the Heavenly Kingdom that was considered to be nothing less than laziness. The Littlest Cherub thought he knew it all so he listened to nobody. That can only go so far. Eventually the other angels got tired of picking up his marbles, so to speak, and they shunned him. Because he was so small they couldn’t help but worry about him so they took their troubles to the Lord of Glory. The Lord of Glory was concerned but not unduly so. He told the angels not to worry, that He would keep His eye on the Littlest Cherub but He didn’t tell the angels what He planned to do for the little fellow. ‘ H H. LL- Rambling Around A great event was about to happen. boon ulc Heavenly Host would be going down in a body to earth to herald the Birth of the Babe of Bethlehem. The Babe was the Lord of Glory who was to become the Savior of the World. But alas, the Littlest Cherub couldn’t go. “If he can’t play and can’t sing, he’ll just have to stay at home,†said the Lord of Glory. “But that will break his poor little heart,†cried the angels. “Just so,†said the Lord of Glory. “That is what I am waiting for. I specialize in broken hearts.†The angels still didn’t understand â€" the hour when the great choir was to sing was drawing near and they became too busy to even think of the Littlest Cherub. When the Littlest Cherub Iounu Uuh mu“ We happening, he took his harp to the most musica angel and begged to be taught but was refused because there was no longer any time. I The long-awaited time came and the Littlest Cherub was left alone while the Heavenly Host went to earth to greet the Lord of Glory who would be born in the manger of a Bethlehem stable. The Littlest Cherub felt very sad and very much alone and he was very sorry for himself as he sat on a cloud crying his eyes out. Suddenly he felt arms around him and saw that he was bathed in a great Light. There all around him was the Heavenly Father. The Heavenly Father comforted the Littlest Cherub while he listened to his story. The Littlest Cherub confessed to the Heavenly Father how conceited he had been, how he knew it all, how he wouldn’t take lessons or try to learn, and how he knew that he lost his great chance to be with the Lord of Glory on earth. .1, _ ~r :LLIANL F’lnnvnln The Heavenly Father back and forth, saying song that Wes £311 of lov 11A,; 1‘ 'l'ne nUdVUIHJ ; “my- “W, _ back and forth, saying nothing, Just humming a song that was full of love and nothing else. When the Littlest Cherub stopped sobbing he asked: “What can I do? Is there anything at all I can do for the Lord of Glory '2†Yes, there was something that the Littlest Cherub could do and he was just about the only one who could do it. It would be a lonely job, and nobody would ever hear about it, but it was a very important job. He was to be the Comforter for the Lord of Glory while he was on earth. The Littlest Cherub said he would try and despite his fears off he went He met the Heavenly Host coming back, thrilled with the message they had given and the song they had sung. Some even paused to mock him a bit. But the Littlest Cherub paid no heed. He had only one thing on his mind, to do the work the Heavenly Father had entrusted to him and to him alone. He arrived at the stable after the angels, the shepherds and the wise men had gone. Only Joseph, the mother Mary and the little Baby, who was the Lord of Glory, were there. The Littlest Cherub was surprised to hear the mother Mary humming the same song the Heavenly Father had been humming in the Heavenly Kingdom. The Littlest Cherub knew instinctively what he must do when Mary became too tired to sing any more. He watched over the Babe and kept croon- ing the same song without words and so full of love. 1,1118 WEB“ I: (all: cuu. a. uuuuuuuu a It didn’t end for 33 long years. Every day and night, the Littlest Cherub was at the side of the Lord of Glory; all the time he was achild, a boy, a carpenter and a preacher ,and a teacher. Every night he hummed his song of love and the body of the Lord of Glory would relax and become strong agaln. It wasn’t easy to do. It was especially hard in the Garden, but the hardest of all was when his beloved charge was on the cross. Even then, the Littlest Cherub kept right on breathing love and strength into the Lord of Glory to the very end, even as his heart broke. . And always the Littlest Cherub remembered what the Heavenly Father had told him. “Only those whose hearts have been broken can help those whose hearts are breaking.†This wasn’t the e1_1d according to Dr. Johnston. m__-4.-- A n" n‘r‘A (Continued from Page 2) m.
