Richmond Hill Town Council agreed March 31 to provide sanitary services to a parsonage on the property of St. John's Baptist Church, Oxford Street at Elgin Mills. Although Reeve Donald Plax- ton felt this could set a preced- ent for providing services out- side the town limits, it was pointed out that the adjacent church building. is already be- ing serviced. The new parson~ age service will be tapped into the existing sewer. All costs will be borne by the congrega- tion. Sewer For Parsonage Approved By Council The town's policy has been to provide sanitary sewer service outside its limits to churches and schools attended by town ratepayers, it was noted. Council also agreed to have Works Commissioner Otto Whalen draw up an agreement to permit access for vehicular traffic to the parsonage over the town's one foot reserve. The agreement will stipulate that the church will maintain the subject property and pay a fee of $1 per year. AURORA: Town council has voted in favor of reducing the required minimum floor area for houses to 1,200 square feet. Mayor Dick Illingworth lashed out at municipal councils which aggravate the housing shortage with red tape and demands for expensive houses. “With the county board of education the requirement for high assess- ment is negated. Let’s get some houses in ‘here people can af- ford to live in." the mayor said. Reg. $8.95 GAL.
