Editor - DAVID MAXWELL THE BRUCE TRAIL By Garrie Wayne Approximately 70 Don Head students went along the Bruce Trail November 10. We arrived at the Forks of the Credit Riv- er at 10:20 am and broke into groups. Then we walked for approximately 10 miles and stopped at the Terra Cotta Con- servation Area. Some arrived well ahead of everybody. com- pleting the trail in three hours. Others arrived well after the first busload of students left for the school. The trail began with an in- teresting 400-foot climb but all along the trail there were rocks. mud and branches. I cannot figure out why I saw snakes. rats. field mice, every- thing except birds. There was wlll be able to go again some exercise. a great nature trail, and a wonderful experience. FARMS IN THIS AREA By Dave Maxwell On November 12. 19 Don Head students went to Dave Brown’s farm east of Markham on Concession 10 where we saw a calf born that morning. Dave demonstrated how to milk a cow in the new milking stall with fully automated equipment- On Dave’s farm as on most others, they use modern equip- ment. Then we went next door to Dave's uncle's farm. On that farm they had prize Belgian horses and they also raised pigs. They also butch- ered the pigs on the farm and sold them from there.
