Mrs. William Champion at the recent UCW meeting spoke on a recent trip to the British Isles. She described visits to ancient landmarks, particularly in Shake- speare and Bobby Burns coun- try. There were also interesting slides to illustrate. There was a Christmas theme, with poinsettias and candle- light. Mrs. George Hooper sang two beautiful carols, accom- panied by Mrs. Steven English at the piano. Mrs. Walter Craig conducted the meeting and Mrs. Isobel Billingsley gave a fine devo- tional. Business included discussion‘ of plans for the Associated Tube Ltd. dinner which the group‘ will cater at Victoria Square Community Hall on Friday evening December 17. Also on January 5 they will assist with a dinner at Massey Fer- guson barn where M-F will en- tertain news media at a snow- mobile demonstration. White Gift Sunday at Brown‘s Corners Church is December 12. Sunday School meets at the usual time and then children will pre- sent their gifts at the church service at 11 am. There will be‘ special music by the junior chior‘ under the direction of Mrs. Marguerite Jones, and the senior choir will also sing. On Wednesday December 15 at 7:30 pm there will be the Christmas Concert at the church. On Sunday December 19 a special Christmas Service will be held when children will be baptised. In the evening at 7:30 pm the CGIT assisted by Explorers will hold their annual vesper service. one of 1,500 such services across Canada. Last Sunday, the second in Advent, there was the sacra- ment of holy‘communion con- ducted by Rev. Allen Hallett. Jim and Doris Grant’s daugh- ter Linda will spend Christmas in Europe this year. She leaves next week. Christmas is in the offing and everywhere you go there are cookies in, the oven. puddings in the pot and lights sprouting from every evergreen. Its a nice feeling. On.
