WI Studies Don Head The regular meeting of the WI was held on Tuesday after- noon of last week at the home of Mrs. Robert Britnell with Miss Mabel Sanderson in charge. - u . , “I”- Music was supplied by Mrs. Merrick of Richmond Hill and Mrs. Jim Barker of Victoria Square. These two ladies were very entertaining and very much enjoyed. The guest speaker was Mrs. Stewart _ Rumble of Headford, who spoke on the education that is given in Don Head Secondary. In order to acquire first-hand information, Mrs. Rumble took a guided tour of the school, while pupils were learning their dut- ies. There were many and varied occupations being taught. Both boys and girls were learning how to measure ingredients for cup cakes, tarts. salads. Best of all they were taught to clean up the kitchen when finished, she said. They are also taught hair dressing, sewing, upholstery. as well as merchandizing. They learn how to use cash registers or to be a serVice station attendant. Almost any job that a young person would like to do, is av- ailable for anyone who has gone in for an academic education. They are given credits here that enable them to go to advanced vocational schools where they are taught the fine points in any field they wish to pursue, said Mrs. Rumble. Her talk was most interesting and she has a very pleasant way of ex- pressing herself. Then one of our mm mem-bers Mrs. Mabel Frisby gave two readings â€" which was rural life repeating itself, eg. broken down clothes-lines and no money for the farmers’ wife. The roll call was answered by several ladies complaining about the many advertisements one sees these days that are not realhr true. Delicious lunch was served to end a very pleasant afternoon.
