The Christian Service Brig- ade presented a fine program at the Sunday night service at Heise Hill Church in the ab- sence of the pastor. Rev. An- drew McNiven. The General Director Rev. In the evening Mrs. Doner spoke to the Women’s Group at the United Church in New Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. Hans Koopman and Kevin of Oakville spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Gecr rge Barrett. I Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Winger have returned from a holiday with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. John Gilmore and family of Wain- fleet. Mrs. A. E. Fader of Thunder Bay is visiting her brother William Banford and sister, Mrs. Blanche Read and other relatives. The Consumers’ Association of Canada will hold its monthly meeting this Monday at 8 pm at the home of Mrs. Beth Samuel. 250 Palmer Avenue, Richmond Hill, phone 884-7898. Mrs. Sidney English was pleased to have a visit from her nephew Jimmie Gray, of Calgary, l_ast week, particular- 1y since the air controllers’ strike made travel so difficult. Mr. Lambert Stouffer of Stouffville spoke and showed pictures on Sunday night at the Missionary Church on his visit to the Holy Land. Rev. Grant Sloss, Superinten- dent of the Ontario District. will be the special speaker at the Missionary Church at 11 am this Sunday. A trio from Em- manuel Bible College of Kit- chener will be singing. Mrs. Steeles was struck by a tractor- trailer as she pushed baby Dar- ren’s pram along the shoulder near Buttonville Hall. She is in York Central Hospital with head, hip and pelvis injuries. Darren was kept in hmpital for observation for a short time and released. The two 01- der children were not injured. Neighbors rallied round. The older children were the guests of the Richard Carr Family last week and Rev. and Mrs. Allen Hallett kept the baby until other arrangements could be made. Mr. Steeles and his chil- dren spent the weekend in Tor- onto. A number of close relatives and friends were in St. Cathar- ines last Friday for a wedding, when Jim and Elsie Hood’s son Ted was married to Bonnie Par- rott of that city in a beautiful ceremony at Mountain View United. Among those present were Mr. and Mrs. Tim Pater- son, Mrs. Douglas Hood, Mr and Mrs. Harry Boadway, Mr. The January meeting of the UCW Was held in the Sunday school on Wednesday evening of last week with a large atten- dance. Mrs. Donald Boyd was the convenor. Mrs. Herman Mortson and Mrs. Norman Bell took the worship service. Mrs. Vern Mikkelsen gave a talk illustrated with color slides of her recent ~trip to Denâ€" mark, which was very much en- joyed by all. Lions At the. regular TOPS meeting on Monday evening of last week, two of our local ladies tMrs. Leslie Hart and Mrs. John Gee, graduated from the TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sen- sibly) to KOPS (Keep Off Pounds Sensibly). Mrs. Hart lost 58 lbs. in two years and Mrs. Gee lost 36 lbs. in one year. Congratulations ladies! Keep up the good work. Both Mrs. Baker and Mrs. Rodick have had serious operations since the December meeting and it was good to see them in such good form. Members were also happy to see Mrs. Mona Burr out again after a serious bout of arthritis. Mrs. Burr was a member of the con- vening committee with Mrs. Charles Hooper and Mrs. Ken- neth Stots. Mrs. George Todd of Markham showed pictures of a recent trip to Hawaii, and Mrs. Hooper read a poem. Tfie next meeting will be the family Valentines Party.
