D ..LEGALITTIES ~â€" by Robert Carlaw, Jean Perreault, Carey Nimmons. What sort of legal questions do students ask? Students at Don Head had an opportunity to ask questions to Paul Schn- ier. Lorne Wolfson and Ken Cole These three people are attending Osgoode Hall Law Memorial Scholarship For Late Robt. Reaman Many in the reading area of “The Liberal" will be pleased to know that a special program has been set up by the students of Huntington College, with the assistance of the friends of the late Robert Reaman (Bushy) to establish a memorial scholar- ship. Bob, who was the victim of a car accident recently, was an excellent student. active in resi- dence affairs at the college and a friend to many, and because of this unfailing loyalty and his active contributions to Hunting- ton College, his friends have decided to remember him in this manner. The scholarship is to be call- ed the Robert Reaman Memo- rial Scholarship. and worded thus: The Robert Reaman Memorial Scholarship, awarded by friends of the late Robert Reaman to the student of Huntington Col- lege best exemplifying academic excellence and leadership quali- ties in student life. at the end of the second year. Woman Says Huslgn'd Assaulted, Dropped Her An Oak Ridges woman was allegedly assaulted by her hus- band and left in a ditch on the side of Mill Street at 12:30 am Saturday in an apparent domestic incident, according to York Region Police. The woman complained her husband stopped the car. ripped off her clothes, punched and kicked her in the face and body. pulled her hair and drove away leaving her at the side of the road, YRP said. She was advised to see a justice of the peace and lay charges if she wished. She hadn‘t done so at press time. police said. on Head Secondary School: DON HEADLINES School. It being the end of the year, however. involves not JLISI the pleasing prospect of summer ahead; for some (like me) it also means the arduous and disagreeable tasks of somehow finding all those ‘ ‘mislayed’ text books and returning them. as well as carting home or throwing out the monstrous pile of papers, umbrellas. mittens, scarves, etc. that have been collecting themselves in your locker over the past 10 months. But other than such minor grievances as these, I would say that for the majority of students exam week is but a victorious final step on the golden stairway to summer (it is also very exhaustive and nerveracking). * i I" i It Last Thursday’s Variety Night marked the closmg extra-curricular activity of 1972. the proâ€" ceds from which are to go into the urgently necess- ary formation of a 1973 School Spirit Club. The entertainers performed to a sell-out audi- ence who sat around tables a la night club style. For some. (notably Tom Grierc, Dick and Bill Weber. Ed. Houlihan, Cindy McAllister and Cliff Lynham) it was a farewell performance and for ‘ others an introduction. The evening, which was considered by all who went as a great success, proved a restorer of faith in the enthusiasm and initiative of those who in the ‘ ‘ past have been labelled (of all things) apathetic. The evening was brought to an end by the pres- : entation of flowers to Miles Crawford, who organized ‘ and arranged the programme, then Tom Griere went through a very amusing summary of the highlights of the 1972 school year and was closely moved by, yes, the singing of the school song. We sat at the back ofl the courtroom and the court; was soon filled with people‘ waiting for the judge. As we‘ waited. we felt a little nervousl and glad we weren't being charged. We learned that you must be very quiet in court. not chew gum and dress neatly. We also) realized. from the different‘ cases we saw. that you should: get a lawyer and if you can’t: afford one, you can get legal. aid. which give you a lawyer free. Most of the charges were about drinking and driving. The- penalities were a fine or some-; times a suspended license. The judge talked to us during recess. He explained that he} didn't like to send people to iail because they often have‘ trouble getting b a c k into‘ society. The only reason he‘ sends people to jail is to pro-f tect the public and the com-{ munity from harm t We think if you've neverl visited a court. you should go'. to see what happens thereâ€"but; lust as a visitor.
