At a luncheon meeting of Brown‘s Corners UCW at the home of Mrs. Alfred Miller Wednesday of last week mem- bers watched the unveiling of a church banner. It was beaut- Ifully designed and worked by Mrs. Miller and Mrs. Reg Allen during the summer months. Mrs. Alfred Miller is in York Central Hospital this week for surgery. We wish her a rapid recovery. Church Banner Completed Mrs Harold Steffler was pre- sented with a crystal bowl as a farewell gift. Mrs. Steffler has been a member of the UCW executive for more than 20 years and the family is leaving the area. She has been an asset to the group and will be greatly missed. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Harold Steffler who cele- brated 32 years of marriage last week. At present the Stefflers are immersed in moving their home base to Brussels in the Listowel area. They have been active members of this commun- ity for 25 years. particularly in Brown’s Corners United circles where Mr. Steffler has been a member of the Board of Session and Mrs. Steffler secretary of UCW. Both have served also in youth work and the senior choir. The community will miss them. Following the presentation Margaret and Patricia sang “Amazing Grace". with the last verse composed by Mrs. English for the Stefflers. Friends are sorry to learn of Elmore Hill's illness. Mr. Hill was in Scarboro Hospital for surgery two weeks ago and was making good progress until early last week. when a relapse occurred. We wish him a rapid recovery. During his illness the Hills’ daughter Allie of South Porcupine has been staying with Mrs. Hill. Mrs. Craig also received a gift presented by Mrs. English. a travel notebook for the Euroâ€" pean trip the Craigs will take in the near future. During busi- ness members were reminded of the annual smorgasbord put on by UCW and the church â€" the date, October 25. Tickets are $2.50. with children $1.00.
