Dennis Bosworth. regional engineer, said that it was hoped to get a good supply of water from the hole. but it would not be known exactly how much until the well itself was installed and then pumping could take place undelflactual conditions. Installation of the well is expected to take a couple of weeks. ‘ Mr. Bosworth said the hole was discovered in 1966 when the Town of Richmond Hill undertook test drills in the area. He said sites are based on known acquifiers, or by checking geological charac- teristics which indicate ground water. Drilling operations are now underway for a new source of water at the corner of Dufferin Street and Maple Road in Richmond Hill to augment the town‘s present supply. When completed the new well will join the existing water main at Trench Street and Maple Road. Drilling is being conducted by International Water Supply of Barrie for York Region.
