Gwillimbury York County Board of Educa- tion has recommended against the acquisition of school sites in the Town of Markham and the Township of East Gwillimbury to accommodate a proposed ap- artment project and subdivision, respectively. The former would cover 2.48 acres in Thornhill, about 1,600 feet south of Royal Orchard Boulevard. An estimated 109 elementary pupils and 60 secondary pupils would be involved. The board said, however. that temporary accommodation may be necessary. This would be provided at Baythorn Public School for kindergarten to grade 6 pupils, and at Royal Orchard for grade 7 and 8 pupils. Sec- ondary students would be ac~ commodated at Thornhill Sec- ondary School. The East Gwillimbury subdi- vision would cover 211.7 acres. south of Sharon Road, and would involve an estimated 78 elementary pupils and 20 sec- ondary students. Temporary accommodation would be provided elementary students until such time as the number of students would just- ify an addition to Sharon Public School.
