Of the latter, no mention need be made, except perhaps to take into account that the winning point (and the only point in the game) was a penalty shot for Woodbridge. Other athletic events of the past week were the girls’ volleyball game Thursday, with the arch-rival Bayview and the boys’ soccer game against Wood- bridge on the same day. The project, which was in the past under'the supervision of Mr. Atkinson, is this year to be com- pletely student run, those with licences drive the vehicles, while those with goodly muscles run up to doors and collect papers. The number of volunteers for this operation has so far been quite respectable, but of course more will always be appreciated. Cross-country runners have for the past few weeks, along with puffing up and down stairs at 7:30 am to keep in shape, been taking part in prac- tice meets at the Eaton Estates in preparation for the York County Championships being held this week. Paper recycling has been‘ resumed on Fridays, so from now on all those homeowners who happen to have old papers lying around by the loadful (and who doesn’t) now have a chance to put them to good use. As to fund raising, the students’ council already has a plan which involves the selling of chocolate bars at 75c a bar in an attempt to collect the pre- determined sum of $1,500. Presumably this money will go toward various clubs, extra curricular activi- ties or dances. Possible prom locations, still many tentative, have been narrowed down to the Skyline Hotel, the Richmond Hill Golf Club and Sherway Gardens. As no one seems to have any preference, either for one spot or the other, a final decision has not yet been made. Whatever the outcome it is estimated that the cost per couple will be somewhere in the range of $15.00. In order to successfully carry through an endeavour of this sort, as well as more fund-raising activity at a later date inside the school, organiza- tion and the full support of the student body are key factors. ‘ “““““““‘IE Your thoughtfulness in paying your Liberal carrier each month the very first time he calls to collect encourages him in prompt service. It saves him extra work for which he would receive no additional profit, and gives him more time for school and other activities. He begins collections on the last Thursday of each month after school and may con- tinue them Friday evening and Saturday. This schedule is followed to provide you convenient service and best meet his school and study schedule. Thank you! Home Paper of The District Since 1878 It was agreed by all that more student support is needed at athletic games and in order to promote this, a pep rally was scheduled for Tuesday the 10th. when the soccer team once again strives for a first wm. Adni “Hedley, due to a previous meeting for which the grand total of those present had amounted to one suicide was threatened over the announce- ments. But whether or not that accounts for the healthy turnout of the following day is open to speculation. Let's face it, student meetings of any kind are not famous for attendance records period. So to organizers Kam Landers and Mark Hiscot the thirty- five students who actually did show up in the cafe- teria last Friday for just such a meeting, must have proved a pleasant surprise. It my be assumed that school spirit meetings called on the Friday just before a long weekend will not b_e renowned for their all-out attendance records.
