Chris Dugan, former minister! at Brown's Corners United Church. who died in Vancouver September 19. I The funeral service was held‘ in Montreal September 23. and aftgrward there was cremation. Saturday Rev. Bradley Crux- ton of Ashburn. a very old friend and former classmate of the deceased spoke simply and beautifully of one who was greatly loved by all who knew him. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Craig returned home last week from a six-Weeks' tour which took them to the British Isles and the continent. They report a wanderful trip with wonderful weather. Friends were happy to see James Dugan of Mentreal in the neighborhood last. weekend. Mr. Dugan was the guest of relatives at Stouffville. Mrs. Douglas Hood is getting about again after a recent in- disposition. Miss Rhea Scott and Mrs. Milton Sherman haVe both been ill recently. We wish them a rapid recovery. Friends were sorry to learn of the death of Mrs. John Mc- Cague‘s mother. Mrs. Joyce. at Princess Margaret: Hospital early last week. We extend sincere sympathy. Mrs. Alf Miller has been busy again with craft demon< strations. at MeIVIlle Church for Brownies. and at St. Andrew‘s United Church. Markham. for senior citizens. Mrs. Marguerite Jones led the junior choir. and Miss Regina Allen was piano accom- pmiat with the junior choir. Sunday night the MOBUS, the newly formed young peo- ple's group at the church. met at; the home of Rev. and Mrs. Hallett to see a film on Hindu- Ism. and for discussion. Visits Markham Museum Members of the Buttonville WI travelled back in history Wednesday afternoon of last Week, when they visited the Markham Museum, and went on a tour with Curator John Lunau and Mrs. Gordon Lunau as guides. There is a pioneer bed- rOOm and livingroom, with handw0ven rag carpets. quilts, china and primitive furniture. There are wooden tools and utensils dating back to the early 1800’s. There are all kinds of intriguing avenues to explore. The Buttonville group was particularly interested in the Wealth of old photographs de- picting family groups, Sunday school picnics and school pic- tures. Most of these were from the Markham. Unionville. But- tonville and Cedar Grove areas. Later. the members were uests at the home of Mrs. Tim atersOn. where a brief meet- lng was held and refreshments were served. Mrs. Lloyd Baker conducted business and among items dis- cussed was purchase of an ex- haust fan for the kitchen: and the annual convention which. will be held at the Royal York!
