Paul Brown (2) Steve Barber had York Region Junior Football play came to a loud close to the tune of a 27-0 shellacking of King City Secondary by an overwhelmingly pow- erful Langstaff Secondary Club. This Langstaff crew went the whole regular season play without a loss (six wins, no losses) only allowing a single touchdown, that to Thornhill, and then defeated King City. , A hard fought battle between two fine clubs ended up in a 22-14 victory for Alliston in the Georgian Bay Finals played November 10 in Alliston. Langstaff touchdowns were scored by Paul Conroy on a sweep and a Tom Benton to Jim Lessif pass. The senior boys finished fourth as a team with individual placings of let by John Cook, Bill Schell 37th, Steve Brown 38th, Steve Daven- port 102nd and Steve Gibson (who incidentally is of junior age) 109th. In the junior division it was Peter Kennedy who ran a fine race consider- ing he fell and lost many placings. Bayview’s only representative in the midget division was Jed Bartlett and he ran very well. I’d like to also congratulate the girls’ cross-country team for their fantastic overall first place finish in the girls’ Allâ€"Ontario Finals. Runners and the order they finished in were not available in time for this column. In the November 2 issue of “The Liberal” I reported that there was controversy concerning the ages of some of the Langstaff Junior football players. This was due to the fact that Langstaff only had one team, a junior team. I’d like to clear the air right here and now. I contacted the head of the Langstaff Physical Education Department and he personally checked the ages of all the players and assured me they were all of the junior classification. I hereby make my apologies and hope there are no hard feelings. My congratula- tions are extended to Langstaff on a fine season’s play. BAYVIEW THIRD AT BOYD In the All-Ontario Finals for Cross-Country running which took place at Boyd Conservation Area on November 4 Bayview Secondary placed third as an overall team. This was solely for boys.
