RICHMOND HILL SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH BETHEL CANADIAN REFORMED CHURCH Concord Road and King High Drive CONCORD . Not a Denomination Other Denominations »\11 Are Welcome Elder Egbert. 19, and Elder McMillan, 21, are two of the 17,000 full time missionaries serving the Mormon Church throughout the world at their own expense. They will be visiting residents in Rich- mond Hill area to introduce the Family Home Evening program and explain details of its operation. For more information phone them at 884-9476 before 9:30 am or after 10:30 pm. Elder R. G. McMillan says, “As young people, we are very concerned about today’s youth and the specific prob- lems our society faces. Drug abuse, divorce, broken homes, juvenile crime, and many other issues troubling our world today are due, in part, to the decline of the family. When the family unit breaks down, youth often lacks the stability so necessary to en- dure these changing, troubled times. I‘m convinced the Family Home Evening pro- gram is a unifying agent that can and does strengthen the family's ability to overcome these growing problems.” First girl to finish was Marnie Smith of Richmond Hill United. Among the senior walkers who finished were Mr. and Mrs. Hans Haessler of St. Matthew’s United. One hundred walkers from eight churches, including toddlers to senior citizens. many family groups and six ministers participated in the recent Richmond Hill Bible Society Walkathon. Their pledges fell about $200 short of the goal of $1,640, but it is hoped that others will sup- port someone who walked and make up the difference. There is still time. First across the finish line were Ron Sanderson and Lorne Clark of Richmond Hill United Church Seekers. Second to finish were Jamie McGuire and Gerry Lawlor from Our Lady Queen of the World. The Revs. Earl Gerber, Bob Smith and David Dyer completed the entire walk and the Revs. Dana Lamb, Fred Jackson and John Mc- Family Home Evening Mormon Church Plan The new program is called simply the “Family Home Evening". Elder Harold Eg- bert says. “Incorporation of this proposal into a family’s routine is an attempt to es- tablish a weekly get-together as a family tradition. This would include games, recrea- tion and honest heart-to- heart communication." This new program has been tested in many cities in North America, Europe and Japan and has found remarkable success. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (better known as the Mormon Church) is introducing a new program to residents of Rich- mond Hill designed to help remedy many of the social ills troubling our nation today.
