Mrs. Milsted and Charleen moved to their new home in Thornhill. We welcome Mr. and Mrs. Bob Haxton and three sons of Willowdale who have pur- chased and moved into the Milsted home on Wednesday. Mrs. Rita Millen. on staff at Richmond Hill Post Office, is carrying on as postmaster until a permanent appoint- ment is made. Mrs. Milsted was presented with a lovely vase 2by the Women's Sewing Circle at their meeting in the Fellow- ship Hall at the Missionary Church on Tuesday of last week. Mr. and Mrs. Carmen Hen- derson have purchased Rev. Alvin Winger’s home on Con- cession 4. Rev. Andrew McNiven is conducting 10 days services at the Houghton church. Rev. Jefferies of Parkview Home. Stouffville. spoke at the Sunday morning service at Heise Hill Church and Rev Roy Nigh of Stouffville spoke at the evening service. Lewis Schell. a Gormley resident in his early life and later of Toronto passed away at Green Acres, Newmarket. on Novomber 15 and was buried at Heise Hill Ceme- tery. Rev. and Mrs. George Shef- fer of Stayner and Mrs. Levi Steckley had Sunday dinner with Mr. and Mrs: Roy Bril- linger. Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Bril- linger and family spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Don Logan in Hamilton. Bishop Alvin Winger cele- brated his 90th birthday on November 17. His immediate family had a birthday party for him on Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clif- ford Winger. Mr. Steckley passed away very suddenly on November 7. 1973 at York Central Hos- pital. Richmond Hill. as a result 'of a coronary heart attack. He was born on Concession 6 of Whitchurch on June 11. 1900, son of the late Joseph and Leah Steckley. He always lived in the Gormley area. He farmed for many years and also butchered and had a stand for years at the Thornhill Farmer‘s Market. He was a member of the Heise Hill Brethren in Christ Church until 1962 when he joined the Bridlewood Church in Agincourt. He served faith- fully on the church board and also as a Deacon. In April. 1926 Levi married Mabel Cober of Gormley. To this union were born one son Bruce of Gormley and five daughters, Alma (Mrs. Lloyd McTaggart of Toronto). Margaret (Mrs. John Eyer of Elizabethtown. Penna). Rea- tha (Mrs. John McFadden of Don Mills). Carole (Mrs. Clare Harrison of Nassau) and Mary (Mrs. Dennis Green of Toronto‘. Mrs. Steckley was killed in a car accident in May. 1961 at the comer of Don Mills Road and 19th Avenue. In December 1962. Lei'i married Melba Martin of Clarence Centre. New York, who also survives him. Mr. Steckley had three brothers. Elmer (deceased). Clarence of Gormley, Walter of Barrie and six sisters. Louie (Mrs. Alvin Winger. deceased). Elsie (Mrs. Roy Wideman of Unionville), An- nie (Mrs. Abram Lehman of Harrisburg, Penna), Ida (Mrs. Roy Brillinger of Gormleyl. Clara (Mrs. Peter Steckley of Unionvillel. and Luella (Mrs. George Shef-fer of Staynerl. The funeral was in charge of Rev. Elwood Flewelling of Agincourt. assisted by Rev. Andrew McNiven at Heise Hill Brethren in Christ Church on Saturday. Novem- ber 10 with interment in Heise Hill Cemetery. The very large crowd and the many floral tributes paid a silent token of the esteem for the deceased.
