But because at that time Britt was also without lawyer and because of other unusual circumstances. the hearing of his charge was started over again. Provin- cial Judge Charles was at Newmarket to sit instead of Judge Pearse especially to conduct this preliminary. N0 LAWYER AGAIN When Britt again turned up without his lawyer. Judge Charles conducted the new preliminary anyway. When Britt’s lawyer did turn up, Judge Charles refused to conduct a third one, saying he had made a decision to commit Britt and that was it. YRP Constable Gord Ma- son testified during the pre. liminary that at 2:25 am ‘November 24 of last year he was on patrol in Vaughan and checked the 'Dhomcrest Motel, checking a car in front of unit 2. He found four youths in the car. a bag of a suspicious sub- stance, a syringe with fresh blood and some plastic bags. There were fresh puncture marks on the inside of Britt's arm, and also on two others. Total weight of the sus- picious substance. found to contain MDA, was 165 grams. Brian Thomson, 18, of 282 Richmond Street, Rich- mond Hill. admitted being caught June 28 at 9:30 pm with marijuana when YRP raided his father’s house armed with search warrant. They found two bags of the illicit substance in the sleeves of his coat in his room.
