The midnight shift proved costly f-ér a service station attendant in Markham. Stephen Salmon, an em- ployee of North Town Texa- co, 241 Main Street North, was accosted by two youths in a car about 2:30 am, De- cember 5, Who threatened him with a tire iron and de- manded money from the cash register. Salmon gave them $95 and [the police a description of the two youths, plus the license number of their car. Changing a tire resulted in several injuries to a New- market man last week. Robert Gibson. 32, of 158 Thomas Crescent. took ‘his car to a garage at 9076 Yonge Street in Richmond Hill to fit two tires onto their rims. However, While working on the first one. the tire blew off the rim, causing the latter to come up and hit Mr. Gibson in the face. He was taken to York Central Hospital, where he was treated for facial inju- ries. a fractured left arm and two fractured fingers on his right hand. A 21-year-old Gormley woman was assaulted after accepting a ride with a man on Bloomington Road, near Concession 10, December 6, about 5.30 pm. The woman told police she had been ‘hi=tchhiking and, after getting into the car. the driver struck her on the face and then lindecenvtly as- saulted her. The woman was then left no the roadway east of Don Mills Road. She made her way to a house, where she called ‘her employer. who in turn notified police. Her assailant was des- cribed as 6 feet tall, medium build, 'black hair, full black beard. wearing blue denim ve'st, muddy boots and mud- dy shoes. He was driving a 1968 Mustang.
