A two-d‘ dominiuvms Challenges the Inn March 27 While the single-family house is not yet a luxury of the past, the condominium unit is firmly lbeing sest'a‘b- lished as its future altema- tive. Indeed, the same prin- ciples inherent in condomin- ium development of apart- ments, townhouses, and stacked row houses are now being used to plan and fi- nance industrial complexes, plazas. and even cemeteries. Condominium apartments and townhouses are continu- ing to take a bigger share of the real estate market. Con- dominium units accounted for 17 percent of the rest- dential units sold through Study Condominium At Two-Day Seminar Sponsored By Seneca NO MONEY DOWN NO PAYMENTS UNTIL JUNE. 90 DAY N0 INTEREST PLAN. will be 'hvek .1 the Park and March seminar Concepts r “Con- ts and 'held at of the' Toronto Real Estate Board in January. Commissioner Ray Twinâ€" ney told the board that a copy of Chief Bruce Craw- ford’s report on the incident had been mailed to Rever- end Bruce Suitor with an in- vitation for further comments from him. Previously, condominiums have been developed on the basic principle that the own- ers purchase space, but land is held or leased by the group as ‘a whole. Operating costs are shared proportiona- tely. With recent trends where ownership of space is effec- ted by the element of time, owners can share condomi- nium space in terms of months rather than years as evidenced by vacation area developments in Florida and Europe. Anglican Youth "Care" Group Mr. Suitor had objected to the fact three plain clothes- men entered the church dur- ing a religious ceremony, sat there while the ceremony was going on and then ap- prehended the principals outside afterwards. In a written report, Chief Crawford denied the men had sat through the service and stated that the arrest had been made in a “per- fectly legal and dignified manner with no criticism to be directed at the officers concerned." The group headed by Anne Elliot was skilled in music. among other things, and the theme of the weekend was a "J'oumey"â€"a journey “In Search of Oneself: Who Am Mr. Twinney said he had "received no reply from Mr. Suitor and I can only assume the matter has been dealt with to his satisfaction.” It was at the commission's previous meeting that Chief Crawford presented a report following a complaint by Mr. Suitor. It resulted from the arrest of Wayne Taylor. 21. and Arthur Burgin, 23, both of Willowdale, just outside the church after they had both been married in a dou- ble wedding ceremony. As a seminar. “Condo- miniums: Concepts and Chal- lenges," will appeal largely to career persons in finance. land development, construc- tion, appraisal, architecture, real estate marketing, law. mortgaging, municipal plan- ning. accounting and engi- neering who will be working either directly or indirectly with housing in general and condominiums in particular. More than 30 young people from five different parishes around Metro assembled at St. Mary's Anglican Church, Richmond Hill, March 1 to 3 for the second of three week- ends planned by the Toronto Diocesan youth "core" group which has been organized to assist youth groups within the Diocese. With the assistance of St. Mary’s Rev. Don Downer the young people stac‘hed their bedrolls and other essentials, unpacked their musical in- struments, and entered on the first phase of their study: Richmond Heights Centre o MOVIE PROJECI‘ORS o SLIDE PROJECTORS o 16 mm PROJECTORS e; « PROJECTOR -*~ RENTALS MacLeod. Dr. James Gillies, MP Don Mills, will give a major poli- cy address on proposals for land development and nous- ing in Canada. :As the program develops ovher speakers and topics will be 'added. St. Pats, Willowdale 20th Anniversary [t is anticipated that this seminar will receive regular media coverage in addition to special TV attention for highlights Since attendance will be limited and applications will be processed as they are re- ceived, delegates are urged to register early A seminar fee of $95. will cover attendance at sessions, luncheons, social hours, end- of-day reception, and pro- gram m'a-tex‘Aialst r “Condominiums: Concepts and Challenges" will provide a u n i q u e comprehensive “crash” course in this future housing trend. Much time and effort has gone into preparation for this special occasion, compil- ing a chronical of events in the life of the parish and contacting members of the founding congregation, and preparing for a memorable celebration. All "Condominiums: Con- cepts and Challenges" plena- ry sessions will be recorded and delegates will be provl- ded with typewritten trans- crivpts of the proceedings fol- lowing the seminar. Additionally, as a special convenience for seminar de- legates. information service centres will be available for consultation. These will be sponsored by financial, legal. mortgage, government and other institutions represen- ted at the seminar. On Saturday afternoon the young people divided into several small groups and went “in search of com- munity" by looking at where they were. One group went to a local shopping plaza and talked to people. They 'had some unusual responsesâ€" from suspicion and anger to warm acceptance. “Who Am 1?" Among other things they listened to famil- iar contemporary music deal- ing with identity. The Saturday morning focus was “Why Am I?” and they looked for the purpose and meaning of their own lives and at the life and message of Jesus in relation to their lives. Sunday morning the group participated and provided a musical lead in the con- temporary Eucharistic Wor- ship Service tin the chapel at St. Mary‘s. After the service they col- lected their bedroITs, their belongings, said "good-bye" ‘to many new friends and all went home. The Sunday morning serv- ice at St. Patrick's Anglican Church, 1087 Lillian Street. Willowdale, will not only mark its Patronal Festival, it will be the beginning of celebrations of the church’s 20th anniversary year. Guests at the 10:30 am service will be Rev. Harold Newton, first rector of St. Patrick's, and Mrs. Newton. now of St. Boniface, Mani- toba. An anniversary luncheon will be served at 12:30 pm and all parishioners. former parishioners and friends are invited to at-tend. Another group drove around Richmond Hill through the new BAIF de- velopment, through the old part of town and around the Mill Pond, then out into the countryside around Rich- mond Hill. What impressed this group was the number of different living styles in- dicated ‘by the housingâ€"from obvious poverty to almost dream-like wealth. On Saturday evening, March 2, they relaxed and worked on developing their own sense of community as they listened -to music. talk- ed informally and ate pizza.
