In the travel department, the two outings planned for the month of August were discussed. The first, Aug- ust 14. leaving Maple at 8:30 am will take the Maple and Kleinburg members to the Farmers’ Market in Kitch- ener, lunch at the Evergreen Motel in Kitchener and a stop in the afternoon at the African Lion Safari in Rock- ton. An additional stop may be made, but details are still not confirmed. Cost of this trip. including all ex- penses: bus. driver, lunch and admission to Rockton is $7.25. At the time of writ- ing. there were still empty to the fold after being in hospital. The members all extend their wishes to Mrs. Mary Jones, who, at the time of writing. was still in York Central Hospital. Over a delicious lunch of blackberries and cream, with lemonade and cookies the high euchre scores of Annie Palmer and Clarence Brown were announced, and Clar- ence was welcomed back in- Mrs. May Bell, relative of Mrs. Annie Palmer and Mrs. Sarah Lewis was also wel- comed for the afternoon. The members of the Maple seniors club gathered July 29 with 24 in attendance, to play euchre and checkers, etc., and to plan some of their anticipated trips for the next month or so. The turnout was larger than ex- pected, with many away at cottages on their own holi- days. At least one new and active member was on hand. Kim Weese was back from vaca- tion and was on the mound for Maple, recording his ele- venth win with no losses. Ontario Scholars At Woodbridge High The Ontario Scholarship, which brings with it $200 in cash. is awarded to students with an average of 80 per- cent or better on the com- pletion of grade 13. One of the smallest secon- dary schools in the York County Board of Education system, Woodbridge High School made its best show- ing to date with eight On- tario Scholars among its guide 13 graduates. Woodbridge winners were Marilyn Salmon. 88.8 per- cent; John Pitman, 85.8 per- cent; Melinda Vroom, 85 percent; Janice Barker, 84.2 percent; Carolyn McMillin, 82 percent; Norm Clarke, 81.5 percent; Graham Chev- reau, 80 percent, and Sher- ry MacDonald, 80 percent.
