Hill 2 (July 22) In a real struggle,the local Lazenby‘s Lassies were two goals up in 20 minutes by‘ fine solo efforts from Alli- son Laing whose ball control was superb. York Mills took command in the second half however. (August 13) Richmond Hill 0, Armourdale 0 A real thriller despite the scoreless ball. The entire Lazenby squad played well. (August 20) Richmond Hill 1 York Mills 1 Another goal from centre forward Allison Laing was not enough to‘ keep York Mills from gaining a point from the locals as Rippleton Field in North York. Don Mills 0 There can be little dOubt that the calibre of soccer in this league displayed by Richmond Hill is good enough to win the league. but the locals must not let up yet. League Leading Hill Girls On. 7-Game Winning Streak SQUIRTS Difficulties were experi- enced by all Squirts' coaches in fielding teams this week. Thanks to the ingenuity of Convenor Sam Morelli, scratch games were arranged and all the boys had an en- joyable evening's soccer. Each team received a point in the league standings for the August 20 games. ATOMS League games for Atoms come to an end August 29. There will be no further league games after that date. Cup games will commence September 3 and continue for three nights in each of the following four weeks. Game times are 6:45 pm sharp. They will be played by all teams in the Atom division on a round-robin basis with the two top teams competing in a final match on Richmond Hill Minor Soccer Cup day which is October 5. They now play Oshawa in the Zone 4 division. I That final game at Crosby Park saw a large crowd on hand to spur the locals on and they responded with a decisive 8-2 win. The four-run first inningY saw Paul Philip walking. .Billy Madden safe on a well- executed bunt and Glen (Moreland reaching first on an error to load the bases. Chris Dcher singled Philip home and Greg Walton doubled home Madden and Moreland. After a single by Phil Wood. Dcher scored on an error. Richmond Hill added a run in the third inning on a line-shot homerun by Greg MacMillan. GIRARD HOMERS The fifth inning was high- lighted by a lead-off home- run by Pinch-hitter Danny Girard. Moreland then doubled. DcGeer tripled and with two out. Greg MacMil- land and Bill Dickinson singled and Doug Lewis doubled to account for the five runs. The three runs in the sixth were off singles by Pete’ Tipold. Woods and Mac- Millan and an error' on Wal- ton‘s ground ball to the shortstop. Chris Nye was hit leading off the seventh inning and singles by Philip and DeGeer meant two runs. Moreland crossed the plate three times and Walton twice with eight other players scor- ‘ing one run each. Richmond Hill was again quickly out of the staring gate scoring a run in the first inning on a routine single by Pete Tipold which he stretched into a double with blinding speed.
