Mr. and Mrs. Peter Martin of Englehart were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Farmer. ' Mr. and Mrs. Henry Heise of Unionville visited Mr. Albert Heise, Alma and Roy on Sunday. The ladies of the Gormley Women's Institute enjoyed a picnic Saturday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Ken Jef- fels in Cookstown. The WI is planning a bus trip October 3 to visit the Amish Mennonite Commun- ity at Elmira. Anyone in this community is invited to go along. For further informa- tion contact President Mrs. Russell Elias. Rev. and Mrs. Knoll and daughter of Hamilton were guests Sunday of her brother- in-law and sister, Rev. and Mrs. Eldon Boettger. Dale Doner has gone to Kitchener where he will attend Eastwood Collegiate for this school year. Bible School The Missionary Church held a very successful voca- tion Bible school last week. A large crowd filled the church Sunday evening for the closing exercises. Guest Speaker Vince Woodhouse presented a very interesting and varied program. A social hour and display of crafts followed in the fellowship hall. Average attendance was 107 per night. An offer- ing of $425 was raised Sun- day night to help defray the expenses of the school. Misses Arlene Boettger. Susan Hawkins. Laurie Sayers and Sharon Hawkins enjoyed a week at the Round Lake Camp of the Mission- ary Church near Pembroke. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Peter Don (nee Ingrid van Rijn, elder daugh- ter of Mr. and Mrs. Gerar- dus van Rijn of Gormley) who were married August 31 in Bridlewood Presbyterian Church in Scarboro. The reception was held at Sum- mitview Gardens, Richmond Hill. Robert Millen is home from York Central Hospital. Richmond Hill. but is in very poor health. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Empringham entertained friends and relatives at a dinner August 25 in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Cowling of Saskatoon. Mrs. Cowling is the oldest sister of Mrs. Empringham. The occasion was Mr. and Mrs. Cowling’s 50th Wedding Anniversary. Mrs. Empring- ham then left Monday with the Cowiings for Saskatoon. Mr. and Mrs. John Haw- kins and Richard spent the weekend in North Bay. They attended the wedding of their nephew, Martin Mc- Dowell and Christine Boad- way Saturday. Mrs. Carl Baker of Kin- dersley, Saskatchewan, spent the weekend with her sister- in-law, Mrs. Joseph Heise. Miss Genevievé Bruce and Mrs. Doug Henry vacationed for several days in the USA. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Wright and family enjoyed a week's vacation at her parents‘ cot- tage near Bancroft. Belated congratulations to Mrs. Nettie Koch who cele- brated her 88th birthday Friday. Friends from Mark- ham and Stouffville helped celebrate the occasion. Mr. and Mrs. David 81038 were at North Bay on Satur- d_ay to attend the wedding of her brother, Mr. Martin Mc- Dowell and Miss Christine Boadway. Cathy and David Elliott spent several days in Kitche- ner with their uncle and aunt. Rev. and Mrs. Willis Hunking while their parents attended a Shea convention in the States. Rev. and Mrs. William vander Bent of Richmond Hill, and Mr. and Mrs. Clar- ence Doner of Stouffville were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Doner. We are sorry to learn that Mrs. Clarence Bass suffered a fall recently and broke her arm. Mr. and Mrs. Hans Koop- man and children of Lyn- hurst spent the weekend with her parents.
