But the 150 coaches, managers and umpires still have plenty to do under the leadership of League President Bob Adams, 192 Bay- thorn Drive. The league started in 1968 with six teams. Now there are 42 teams in the House League besides the nine OASA and PWSU teams operating. This year the really good coaching that has developed is showing up as representative and All-Star teams in 1974 had a lot of successes in tourneys, putting Thorn- hill softball on the map all over the province. Thornhill Softball '74 Photo Story By Dave Barbour *t‘k‘k‘ki‘k THE LIBERAL, Richmond Hill, Ontario, Wednesday Batter John Greenfield on the Thornhill Redmen, the OASA juvenile team, swings the timber with a very serious intent. The Thornhill Softball League serves Markham and Vaughan Town residents and depends on these two municipalities for playing space. The 14 available Thornhill diamonds are used to capacity from mid-May to September from Monday to Thursday by House League play, with really no more room for more players. Weekends the diamonds are used for Allâ€" Star, tournament and representative team play. Although the big Thornhill softball expansion this year has been the very successful heavy emphasis on devel- oping provincial competition and All-Star teams, the play in House League continues hot and heavy. Francise Antoniou works hard at her pitching job with the Baythorn Power Equipment intermediate girls team.
