The last of the matches have been played, and the air will be a little less blue on match nights as the number of muttered expletives drops drastically to a mere three or four per game on average. Most of our major team players will relax from that high plane of competitive in- tensity they’ve maintained all season long. John Mar- ais will probably fall asleep all of the time instead of just at the net. Brian Stainer will mention an article of feminine underwear a little more often on court. Captain Peter Wenzel will be little less fierce. Karl Allison will shave on Tuesdays again. Phil August will needle his op- ponents more than ever. Den- nis Stainer will tell us what his shot into the bottom of the net was supposed to do. Ian Griffin will wash his sweat shirt. Steve Cox will speak to other people instead of himself. Phil Blanchard may even turn up for the club championships. Frank Robinson will use a 'bigger pipe as the evenings get cooler. And Arnie Balogh . . . what will he do? Well whatever it is, he'll do it again. cg“mummum“mmm“mnmmuumummmmmmunumunmmmmnumummumlum\mummmmm\mmunummummmmmnumunummmumumum1mmmumummumnuuumumumunuuunummmumummummua; The majors played to a 3-3 tie with Brampton Tuesday of last week to close off a very disappointing season. Skipper Peter Wenzel didn‘t have a settled team from one week to the next all season and his eminently respect- able nucleus of players (I nearly said talent) never pro- duced to their potential too often. The "C" team, our most consistent team all season, played their last match away at Mayfair Valley. The most energetic thing the opposi- tion did was to get changed before beating us 6-0. John and Joan Freeman again con- spired to leave me out; this time plotting with.my wife to forget to put my tennis shoes in my bag.
