VOL. 98, NO. 11 head. L W U ocuoleu. For good reason. Returning will be most of the stalwarts from last season's team in the bodies of Dave “Digger†Dunkley, Steve Glover, Dave Stuart, and Defencemen Jack Guest and Jim Roffey. 7 ‘ ‘ . t M . . 1‘11 Aunubvvu. I’ll save any extensive surgery on this sea- son’s team for later on but suffice to say Coach Karl is in his most optimistic mood in the last two seasons. â€" - - u“ ,A A: an‘ --u.u~-~ w... __-g_ Oh, incidentally, I asked Brimblecombe what he thought about the new Ontario Hockey Assoc- iation ruling which bans a player from a game for fighting and puts him before a hearing if he gets into three fights _during the season. is “I don’t like it,†he stated flatly. “Person- ally, I don’t think fighting is all that bad. It’s the highsticking and spearing they should watch. I’ve never seen anyone even cut for stitches from fighï¬ing. I’ve seen a lot of stitches from stick- wor .†Brimblecombe also posed a problem via the fighting ruling. “What’s to stop a team from sending out their worst player to goad a top player into fighting? That would be a good way of getting rid of him for the season. No, I don’t like that fighting rule a bit.†So be it. Anyway, play hockey. Will see what we shall see. ODD NOTES HERE The Richmond Hill Dynes Jewellers are still breathing, albeit heavily. They play Toronto Lindal Homes in the second game of the Toronto and District Major League playoffs tonight at the town park at78:30 pm. It’s been a long, iong season for the Jew- ellers. \Maybe it’ll soon be over? Also got a call from Richmond Hill Industrial Softball League President Fred Simpkins. Fred tells me a return game will be played between the local all stars and a similar group from the Aurora Industrial Softball League next Monday night at the town park at 7:30 pm. Object of the game is to raise funds for the league. ' It should be a real good one judging from the first game played last Sunday night in Aurora.
