Judo members score firsts At Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, October 13, only 15-year-old Steven Tenyige of North Paliser Crescent, Richmond Hill, was able to attend the competition. He was champion in the 13-16 year old junior division (121-135 pounds). His next first place win came in the Toronto East Region Tournament held in Richmond Hill October 19 in the under 125 pound division. Preston meet On the same date another competition was held in Preston from which two Budokai members returned with a second place award each. Elmvale tied the game at 12:26 of the final 20 minutes but the Kings snapped out of their lethargy to go in front again at 8:88 with Ayres scoring his third goal of the night. The Eastern Canadian Championships came up November 2 for those 16 years and up and Budokai had some entries in this competition. During the third period tans and players were contused and amaled at the number at penalties assessed under the new high-sticking rule. Jen Allard played his best game on defense, stopping many Orillia rushes and when Orillia got through Risi came up with some line saves. Tim Wilson on the lorward line played his best game to date. Orillia scored once in the lirst period and twice in the third. Thornhill Fisher Brothers Peewees took both weekend games. Friday the boys outplayed Barrie and won 3-2 in spite at too many penalties. Both Barrie goals were scored with Fishers a man short. Thornhill opened the scoring at 2:47 at the tirst period when Duhee Lee scored on a pretty setup trom Kurt Pearson. Steve Mallett also assisted. Paul Howson made it 2-0 on a solo end- to-end rush. Barrie scored at 3:48 of the second period and Pearson scored in the winning goal at 5:15 at the third on a pertect lead pass from Lee‘ Paul Myers also received an assist.
