Richvale Atoms turned back the Oak Ridges Atoms 8-3 in an exhibition tilt November 8. Early in the first period Tracy Warner took a centering pass from Al Evelyn and blasted it high into the net. Two minutes later Blair Bugden completed a three-way play from Tim Boswell and Steve Mettel. Eddy Iafano, in his first game as a forward (he had played defense) then Atoms Richvale hockey Lions, Baker Sales battle to 2-2 draw Richvale Lions and Bakers Sales and Service fought to a 2-2 tie in a well played game November 10. Both goalies refused to give up the winning goal. Scoring for the Lions were Mike Oldham and Shawn Cooke with help from Chris DePiero and Darin Grad- zinski. Rob Wagg got both Baker goals unassisted. In the second game of this division Carlisle Real Estate registered a 4-1 win over Thorncrest Motel. Carlisle’s points came from Jim Formenton with two goals, Gordy Peters with a goal and an assist, Orveo Paoletti with a goal and Brian Winch and Jordy Craig with two assists each. David Abernethy was set up by Larry Curry for the Thorncrest counter. Atom Novice Pizzaville handed Ren- dezvous a 4-1 defeat November 10 in an exciting game. Rodney Clugston contributed two markers, Paul Gettel and Murdock Murray a single counter and Kinnard Vander Sanden an assist to the winners. Rendezvous‘ goal was potted by Martin Reisky assisted by Paul Rothwell. Music Shoppe and Herron came up with a 2-2 draw in their hitting game. Scoring for Music Shoppe were David Caldwell and Mat Hozjan. Getting Herron’s tallies were Chris Wan- schura and Larry Thorsell with help from Adam Petterson and Thorsell. Peewee Raymore scraped out a 54 win over W&P Motors as Frank Cavallo scored a hat trick, Erich Ahnert and Ricky Fleming a goal each, Ahnert two assists, Fleming and Mike Moyal one assist. Big scorer of the game, however, was David Purves who netted all four W&P counters. Neil Cooke had four assists, Steven Cage and Brian McGuckian an assist each. Bantam Loughlin Lumber edged Surf Marine 3-2 in a two-way tilt. Pointgetters for Loughlin were Neil Rothwell with a goal and an assist, Doug Everett and Ron Keeting with a goal each and Jeff Baker with an assist. Surf’s marksmen were David Ross and Andrew Petterson with Michael Reeve helping. G.C. Romano made it a decisive 7â€"3 count over United Drain. Mark Mur- phy’s hat trick was the deciding factor as Romano handed United their first loss of the season. Sharp- shooters for Romano were Murphy (3). Trevor Williams (2), Dave Twidale and Danny Peters. Earning assist points were Twidale, Williams, Peters (2) and Robert Haehnel. Peewee Gullo Enterprises came out on top of a 3-2 score in a return game with Richmond Hill Minor Peewees November 4. Richmond Hill struck first but their lead was short lived as Mike Hegenauer tied the score with the help of Heinz Losberg and David Masson. Losberg scored the only goal of the second period unassisted. With just 39 seconds played in the third period Randy DePiero intercepted a pass and raced in to beat the Hill goalie. The Hillers pressed during the last five minutes of the game and scored when Richvale was Shorthanded. Oak Ridges handed Gullo Enterprises a 7-1 defeat November 5. Losberg drew the puck at a faceoff to Shawn McDowell who let a booming slapshot go from the point to score. In their first meeting of the year Woodbridge won 3â€"1 over Gullo Enterprises. There was no scoring in the first period. Woodbridge got the first goal of the game in the second with McDowell retaliating unassisted. A Woodbridge player fell or pulled the puck out of the net and the referee awarded Richvale a penalty shot. McDowell took the shot and after deking the goalie hit the goalpost. Woodbridge finished off the scoring with just 57 seconds left in the game. Less than a minute late Thomhill tied it up. In the third period Steve Wilson fed a pass to Chris Demeo (both defensemen) who blazed a long shot home for Hillcrest. Thornhill came right back to tie the final score. In a rematch November 10 Hillcrest Mall handed Thornhill a 4-2 defeat to give them four wins, a tie and a loss in their first six league games. Much of the credit goes to Mario DePiero in goal who has given up only eight goals for a fine 1.33 average and two shutouts.
