St. Luke's holds New Year's dance l6 Church News On December 15. it was the Sunday School which took over the service at Christ the King Lutheran Church. It started with a family pot-luck supper which the women of the church looked after, and then the various grades of the Sunday School took over. Grades three and four. with the help of Lydia Broadbe‘ck and her son Werner, presented the story of the Nativity through the medium of hand puppets, while the story was read by grades 5 and 6. Ruth Boothby had trained and ‘ conducted the cthren’s choir. Angela Hamler’s grade 2 class gave a skit on Christmas in other lands. Loraine Macpherson‘s grade 1 class, had arranged a pantomime. The kin- dergarten and nursery classes had the last word with songs including “1 Wish You A Merry Christmas." They are Grace Nicolaus’ responsibility, assisted from Cathie Macpherson and Monica Neitzert. It was a real Christmas celebration. Holy Trinity Anglican Church Another Christmas party was held for the children of Holy Trinity Anglican Church. This was a late afternoon affair on December 15. Carol Matson was responsible for looking after the food. This was followed by active games, a magician, and Santa Claus who came to say good-bye to everyone and give them each a little jar of candies. There were about 125 children and all had a good time. Thornhill Presbyterian Church The December meeting of the Presbyterian Women, Thornhill Presbyterian Church. held their regular meeting on December 16. The 9:30 choir presented a short concert of Christmas music. The women brought gifts for the young mothers at the Scott Mission. Ukrainian Catholic Church The ladies of the Ukrainian Catholic Church held their annual December tea and bake sale on the afternoon of the December 8. There was a beautiful display of Sophie Bod- narchuk’s paintings. A resident of Agincourt, it was she who re-painted the mural on the front outside of the church when it was renovated.
